The big question is that what kind of issues are facing by London due to minority communities.
Firstly, the essay will explain some of the issues that London’s minority communities have in
relation to crime. A minority group is differentiated from the social group which as specific
power. It is necessary for the growth of the country to consider the ethics as it helps to increase
the trust of people and reduce the crime. Black, Asian and mixed-raced people are considered as
the minority communities in London and most likely to be both victims and suspects of crime.
There are various incidents have taken place in the street of London which will be described in
the essay. It is necessary for the government to take initiate action to prevent these kinds of
crime. It has been found that black men are inappropriately the victims of violent crime in the
capital of UK. The Metropolitan Police has been released an informed debate on a sensitive
subject for the very first time (FitzGerald, Joseph, Qureshi and Hough, 2013). The conclusion
will be drawn by analyzing the various issues due to involvement of minority communities of
London in crime.

Safety is the major concern of the foundation of London’s success which helps to make the great
place to work, visit, live and do business. The minority communities in London can be found in
the form of Asian, Black and mixed-community who found in more involved in the crime in the
comparison of white people (London Govt, 2017). It has developed the bad image of this
community all over the world which affect on the tourism as well as on the people who resides
over there. There is required to make the changes which are vital but less visible such as
components of policing that prevent the most vulnerable people. In the context of issues, it has
been found that there have been enhances in some of the most hazardous and terrible kinds of
crime like child sexual exploitation, domestic abuse, theft and rape. It is required for London to
have the specialist police officers who should be able to recognize and prevent the most
vulnerable people. It would be helpful to investigate complex offences and to prop up victims. It
has shown that the offences are increased in London day by day due to minority communities
(Hall, 2012).
The involvement of London’s minority communities in crime is huge in comparison of white
people. There is a deep racial inequality across the country. In the populations of Black, Asian
and mixed adult populations, a higher part of people in professional jobs or managerial job has
attained experiences of crime in comparison of those people who has same ethnicity in enduring
unemployment (Draca, Machin and Witt, 2011). It has been analyzed that white populations are
more unemployed adults who experiences crime in comparison of adults in professional and
managerial jobs. In the report of Alderson, it has been analyzed that over 12% of London’s
approx 8 million populations is belonged to black community, involving those of mixed black
and white percentage; on the other hand only 69% is white. The figures of polices reflects that
black men are involved in crime twice in which 29% of the male victims are referred to the gun

crime while 24% of the male victims of knife crime (Bulman, 2017). In the context of
involvement of minority communities in crime, the Met refused to comment on statistics in
which some officers will look them in the form of justifications for Operation Trident. It is
considered as the unit that target black-on-black violent crime and murder. However, the
statistics are criticized by minority group of London with the justification that they are being
targeted disproportionate number of black men under search powers.
It is necessary that black people should be researched at least five times more possibly to be
searched in comparison of white counterparts. There is a major issue of sex offences in which
32% males of minority community in London has been suspected where the number of
percentage of white is 49% (Laurence, (2009). The issues are increased because of racism which
should be improved by London’s Government. It has been argued by Laurence, (2009), that
dissimilarity and unfairness force minority community to have relation in crime that is why it is
required for the government to consider the equality and make the strict rule which should be
helpful in preventing crimes within the city. However, the mayor of London has started to work
on it to enhance their Hate Crime Reduction Strategy (Alderson, 2010). Metropolitan Police
Service has statutory duty over there which helps to prevent crime within the city. This service is
working with the organization that is related to criminal justice to ensure that handling with hate
crime should be the main concern across London (Pitts, 2013).

In the limelight of above discussion, it can be concluded that the issues that London’s minority
communities have in relation to crime are increased due to not giving proper attention to this
crime. It is vital for the Mayor of London to take these issues on serious note so that people of
city can be lived without any fear. However, it has been analyzed from the essay that the mayor
has taken various step to make them feel that they are equal to general people who can decrease
the crimes within the city. The discussion has been made regarding the involvement of black,
Asian and mixed-raced people in crimes with the help of statistics which will be helpful for
further research.
