Introduction
The Security Service Limited (SSL) is a private company of UK, which is providing private security services
to different places in the UK. It provides different types of security in different parts of the UK based on
requirements. It includes different range of services, which are armored transport, security services for
business, and domestic security services. It had four divisions based on the geographical location, which
is handled from the corporate headquarters. All divisions have different responsibilities. These are the
division of SSL:
 The Private Transport Division (PTD)
 The Business Security Division (BSD)
 The Domestic Security Division (DSD)
 The Home Office Services Division(HOSD)
SSL headquarter have a manual system in which all the documents are manually operated in a excel
sheet. Although they have, personal computers and they used floppy disk for data transfer from one
place to another. SSL is required a highly automated system for managing all the business functions for
headquarter. There are so many technologies presented in market for managing such types of services
using client-server architecture.
Solution – 1:
Currently SSL used excel sheets for managing all the information related to business. In which they have
data about customers and their services. All the information is maintain by manually on the PC and
transferred information using floppy disk. In PTD, it has a network of three computers for different
works, such as financial ledgers, mapping of route, roaster for employees.
There is a scope for improvement in the information system of SSL. Job costing for new and renewed
contract can be performed by system. All the information related to employees and customers is
available at the cloud. An IT specialist is required to maintain all the stuff on internet using the cloud
computing techniques. Now days it is available at low cost with lots of advantages, such as no data loss,
no cost of data transfer, and secure data transfer.

Solution – 2:
SSL can implement new technologies for managing their information system. Cloud computing is
providing different service at a single end, such as Information-as-a-Service (IaaS). It has so many
benefits, as data storage, network bandwidth, information security, and many more. It is a complete
package of services for handling such type of business. As an example, they should maintain a Customer
relationship management (CRM) system for managing all the financial ledgers, route analyzing
techniques, and shift management system. They must create an IT cell for handing all the issues related
to Information systems. A server can manage all the work from their headquarter using internet for all
the services of the SSL.
Solution – 3:
There are many issues in the divisional and companywide perspective, such as at different level all
information was stored at a single PC and if needed it is transferred by a floppy disk, which is not secure
and safe mode of data transfer. For fast and better transfer of information and managing different
works of SSL new technologies should be implemented at different divisions.

Business process re-engineering is the best way to implement new information system with different
IT strategies for safe and secure data transfer between divisional office and headquarters. The divisional
separation was a great idea in that system but the help of business process re-engineering will improve
it. Change the old system with the help of modern IT services and hardware’s. All the information is
stored in a personal server of SSL with high security using firewalls and other security essentials. It
provides fast data transfer using high-speed internet connection. All manual work has some mistakes, so
using IT services it reduce in numbers. Security services also need more security for secure information,
such as prisoner’s transportation from one place to another place. There are some financial data also,
which is requiring more security and a safe place to store data. An Information system is completing the
entire requirement for SSL (Ryssel, et al., 2004).
Solution – 4:
Currently SSL having their Information System at headquarter. All the divisional offices send their data
manually in a excel sheet to headquarter. It has some issues and time-consuming process. SSL should
implement a client-server architecture in which all the divisional offices are connected with headquarter
for information transmission, such as Enterprise resource planning (ERP). ERP is software, which is used
for managing all the business in a proper way. It automated all the business process of divisional offices,
such as services, human resources, and technologies.

ERP manage all these function for a company at a single place. It is cost effective but it provides many
advantages, such as growth, and reputation of company. It reduces manually work and use workers for
different works. It manages CRM, HRMS, Inventory management, Warehouse management, e-
commerce, Finance, sales, and purchase using a single system. SSL provides home security services;
information system is making it more secure and safe using IT services (Ryssel, et al., 2004).
Conclusion
Information system is backbone of a successful business and it is a way to increase growth of business of
an organization. SSL is using a Local area network for managing different work at headquarter and
personal computer at divisional offices. It is an old system in which is many unnecessary work are there
for managing information. SSL should implement a secure ERP system for their private security services.
All the functions are automated using technologies and resolve different issues, such as time, cost, and
security.
Finally, it is concluded from previous parts of this report that every business required their own
Information System for managing different business functions. It is also necessary for security reasons.
