4.2 Based on the problem given in 4.1, complete the following tasks:
a. Brainstorm how the company can reward efforts and increase the perception of
personal worth other than issuing pay increases.
b. Use nominal group technique to find the best solution to the employee personal-
worth perception problem. Consider the solutions from the brainstorming activity and
select the "best" solution from that set
. c. Use consensus decision making with the goal of selecting a solution to the employee
personalworth perception problem to which all members of the group can commit.
a) The creative skill here is mainly inclined towards the participation of the individuals.
It is often observed that employees even in big multinational companies complain
about the low personal worth and zero recognition even after putting lots of effort.
This has become a serious issue which is now affecting the employees from all over.
If looked upon properly, this issue can be resolved easily by organizing rewards and
recognition every month on a regular basis. This will create an urge inside the
employees and other staff to give their best every time. They can even reward them
with some abroad trips on the basis of the performance and other perks which even
include their family members.
b) The individuals or the participants form the nominal group. From the participants, one
member can take up the job to see if there is no contradiction or miscommunication
among the other participants present. This is, however, considered to be one of the
most crucial roles while carrying out such brainstorming activities. This will help in
giving a vivid picture of the views and needs of the employees. It will create a sense
of togetherness among the employees. This will help in knowing each individual
personally. Seeber, De Vreede, Maier & Wever (2017) After the end of the session,
everyone can share their views regarding the flaws and the merits of the session. This
can help in improving the process for further sessions.
c) Brainstorming can be followed by the process of consensus decision-making method.
It can be concluded by noting the number of participants. Further, making analysis
about the whole session if it resulted in some common agreement. If this was able to
address all the conflicting issues among the participants. And if they observed that the
solution discussed in the session can increase their personal worth inside the
organization.

5.2 Someone suggested two types of potential knowledge developers: “Send me a
well-developed computer programmer or a programmer competent in several
languages, and we’ll make him or her into a successful knowledge developer.”
and “Send me a talented generalist with well-developed interpersonal skills or
somewhat more delicately, ‘a user friendly person’ and a rigorously analytical
mind, and we’ll team him or her with a competent knowledge developer.” In
your opinion, which approach would be more successful in knowledge
development? Why?
Talented generalist with well-developed interpersonal skills together with the quality
of being user-friendly and having rigorous analytical mind can be a better option for
the knowledge developer. Rawlinson (2017) These qualities will enable the individual
to be updated and accept the changes that are happening digitally all around. This will
make sure that the technologies with which the organization is working are according
to latest set trends. The quality of having a rigorous analytical mind will always
ensure that there is always a room of improvement and discovering ways with which
more output can be drawn. The benefit of being user-friendly is that the selected
individual will always be comfortable with all the tools and techniques that are
required by the organization. It will make sure that the company does not face any
challenge while working on the latest software. The company will always be ahead of
the other companies running under the same field. This is creating a sense of
competitiveness in the market. Therefore, this will always lead to an environment
inside the company which always appreciates the changes that are in accordance with
the favor of the organization. This will lead to the growth of the company and help in
reaching its goal effectively and efficiently Dennis & Johnstone (2018).

7.1 Give your views on failure of implementation of knowledge management at a
global company based on five distinct stages of knowledge management:
Stage 1: Advocate and learn Stage
2: Develop strategy Stage
3: Design and launch KM initiatives Stage
4: Expand and support initiatives Stage
5: Institutionalize knowledge management
Reeder (2017) Implementation of knowledge management at a global company was
not successful as it was managed within silo-oriented communities. Therefore,
business-critical knowledge that was responsible for carrying out the different
functional groups was being neglected. It affected the whole system of advocating and
even the process of learning was deeply affected. IT systems were given the major
preference in managing the area of knowledge. This resulted in insufficient attention
toward the area of tacit knowledge and behavioral issues. It lacked proper strategies
which could help a company to grow and reach its target impeccably. It even involved
the participation of different external consulting firms at every stage. Inputs from
these consulting firms confounded in place of facilitating the management of
knowledge management. The expenses required to sustain the initiatives of
knowledge management increased within limits. To overcome this, the management
decided to terminate this concept of knowledge management altogether. This resulted
in a huge loss for the company. Because of the lack of investment the company
suffered a lot that they even compromised in the area of KM initiatives. The company
also suffered from the issue of teething problem. It was unable to completely translate
the requirement of the designs and even lacked the knowledge which was required in
understanding the latest technology. This led to the poor performance of the team
managing the area of the sales. On the other hand, the team under the design,
knowledge, and content were already ready with a large amount of the content. The
company was in fear that KM would lose its interest because of improper
management. Krone (2017) To overcome this situation, they hired an intranet system
which helped in making it is content available. However, the team under the intranet
system was treated with the behavior of skepticism. This created a sense of confusion
and disturbance inside the workplace.
