Introduction
The Tourism is an industry which has been preferred by everyone and it is a pleasure or business
which is also the theory and the practice of touring, it is the business to attract the people. The
tourism in India has been in recent times has grown rapidly. The Mumbai is the famous city of
India where every year large number of tourists comes from both internationally and domestic.
In this report the tourism of Mumbai and the impact of Mumbai in the international tourism will
be discussed.
Destination
The destination Mumbai is a port city which has been situated in the west coast of the Indian
Peninsula. The City of Mumbai is the most dominant urban city of India and it is the largest and
densely populated cities all over the world. The name of Mumbai has been derived from the
Mumba devi that is the goddess of the local Koli fishing peoples (Kaushik, Agrawal, and
Rahman, 2015).
International Visitors
It has been estimated that over 10 million foreign tourists had arrived in the year 2017 in which
the highest number of tourists visited Mumbai. As compared to the year 2016 it was 8.89 million
that can be said that it is the growth of 15.56% in the year. Out of this 18.9% tourists visits
Maharashtra state whose capital is Mumbai. In the International Tourism that has been reported
by Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report for year 2018 India had been ranked 40th out of
136 countries. In the report India had been ranked 10th out of 136 countries in terms of price
competiveness (Yasuda, 2018).
Accommodations
Mumbai is the very crowded city and with a huge traffic in the city tourists face many problems
to visit one place to another. There are various famous accommodation are there in the city of
Mumbai that itself are the centre of attractions (Mowforth, and Munt, 2015) . The Hotel Taj
Mahal Palace is the largest and finest hotel all over the Asia and has been known for its excellent
customer service. Whereas the ambience of the Hotel will make the foreign tourists to say wow,
the large staircase in the hotel attracts the most in the Hotel. Everything will be arranged the
moment will you walk outside such as transportation and that will be in Jaguar a brand of Tata
Motors. Those who stay in the 285 palace wing they are greeted with the flower lei, chilled
towels and tastiest non-alcoholic welcome drink. Other than this there are various other stays like
Trident Bandra-Kurla that also attracts foreign tourists (Cuervo-Cazurra, 2016).

Economic Impact
The world Travel and Tourism council had made a calculation on India’s Tourism on which it
has been found that tourism generates around US$23.0 billion which is around the 9.4% of the
nation’s GDP in the year 2017. The jobs had been generated are 41.622 million jobs that is 8% of
its total employment. This sector has expected to grow at 6.9% till 2028 that is US$490 billion.
In the year 2015 the medical tourism that was the tourism that has been expected to be worth
US$3 billion. In the year 2020 a projection that has been grown to $7-8 billion by the year 2020
(Frenzel, Koens, Steinbrink, and Rogerson, 2015).
Key Tourism Attraction
There are some key tourist palaces that there are some key tourists places that has been included
are Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus - it is the monumental train station and it is the
cities most extravagant Gothic building and an aphorism of colonial era in India.
Elephanta Island- it is in the northeast of the gateway of India in the Mumbai Harbour, this is
the rock out temples of gharapuri which is better known as the Elephanta Island are the
UNESCO World Heritage site. This island was created in the AD 450 and 750.
Sassoon Docks- it is Mumbai’s incredible fishing docks and it is the largest wholesale market of
fish in the Mumbai. The Sassoon Docks that is the scene of intense and pugent activity that has
begins at around 5 am.
Iskcon Temple- The founder AC Bhaktivedant Swami Prabhupada spent a long period here over
the Iskcon Juhu and it plays an important part in the Hare Krishna Story.
Khotachiwadi- It is the ancient village that is almost 180 years old as the beauty of the village is
that it is a Christian enclave of elegant two storey Portuguese style wooden mansions.
Gateway of India- The gateway of India is the bold basalt arch which is faced out to Mumbai
harbor from the tip of Apollo Bunder. It is incorporated in the Islamic style.
Haji Ali Dargah- the dargah that was built in the 19th century, it contains the tomb of the
Muslim saint Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. It is the place of sight that is floating like the sacred
mirage off the coast.
Marine Drive- It is the very famous place of Mumbai that has been built in 1920 on the
reclaimed land. It is recently been crowned Victorian Gothic and Art deco Ensembles Unesco
World Heritage site (Meyer, K., and Peng, 2016).
Conclusion
It can be analyzed that Tourism not only attraction but also helps the country to earn and
generate jobs. The large percent of GDP has been generated through tourism that has been

analysed from the report. There are various accommodation are provided to the foreign tourist
that they have to just walk and all facilities would been provided to them. There are various key
tourism attraction in the city that every foreign tourist must goes and visit.
