1MANAGING CREATIVITY
“Others have seen what is and asked why. I have seen what could be and asked why not. ”
The above quoted lines of the famous painter Pablo Picasso from his work “Pablo
Picasso: Metamorphoses of the Human Form: Graphic Works, 1895-1972” speaks volume
about the concept of creativity. Creativity forms an important part of the lives of the
individuals and it is often seen that this particular concept is used by the various individuals
to do their required jobs in a much better manner (De Bono 2015). Furthermore, the use of
creativity for the completion of various tasks or jobs not only leads to a better completion of
the job or task concerned but also enhances the satisfaction level of the individuals concerned
and makes them feel that they had done something worth doing (Runco 2014). This particular
essay will give an overview of the concept of creativity in the backdrop of the concept of
disruption.
Human beings like the concept of patterns as well as routines and thus they make their
lives revolve round these two concepts (Runco 2014). Therefore, it is often seen that that the
human beings often structure their lives into routines or fixed patterns and any deviation from
these routines or patterns causes them discomfort (De Bono 2015). It is precisely here that the
concept of creativity becomes very significant. It is significant to note that the life of a
student is a very structured one and any disruption from the fixed pattern of their lives is
likely to cause them a serious level of trouble (Stein 2014). Therefore, it is often seen that the
students do not very much welcome the concept of change or creativity to complete the tasks
which they have been used to doing in repetitive patterns (Runco 2014). Thus, it can be said
that the concept of disruption can be utilized to break free of these routines or fixed patterns
and replace them with various creative ways of doing the same activities (Stein 2014).
Creativity can be defined as the process by means of which the various individuals or
the business organizations try to do the same thing in a much innovative manner or in a way

different from their normal pattern or practice (Lehrer 2012). Therefore, the various
individuals as well as the business organizations often take the help of the various precepts of
the concept of creativity to perform their diverse tasks or jobs in a much more innovative or
creative manner (Lehrer 2012). One of the major reasons why the majority of the people do
not like to take the help of the concept of creativity because there is a certain element of risk
involved with the process of creativity (Carter 2015). In the opinion of Henri Matisse,
“Creativity takes courage”. Another significant factor which influences the process of
creativity is the curiosity or the desire to do the same things in a different manner (Carter
2015). In the opinion of the founder of the Walt Disney Company, Walt Disney, “Around
here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up
new doors and doing new things, because we're curious...and curiosity keeps leading us down
new paths”. Another significant which deters the majority of the people from taking the help
of the concept of creativity is the fact that the process of doing things in an imaginative
manner requires a lot of imagination and in this particular context the opinion of Albert
Einstein becomes significant to note, “Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's
coming attractions” (Carter 2015).
The students since the starting of their educational lives are taught to follow the
various rules and rules religiously and thus they do not like to take the help of the disruption
(Monaci 2016). However, the opinion of Pablo Picasso is significant to note in this particular
context when he says that “Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist”.
Therefore, the students need to take the help of the concepts of disruptions as well as
creativity not only to break away from the monotony of the same things which they need to
perform repetitively and also to perform them in a much manner (Monaci 2016). It is often
seen that if a particular person is required to do the same kind of thing repeatedly then he or
she is likely to lose his or her interest in that particular task or job. It is precisely here that the

concepts of disruption as well as creativity become very significant. It is significant to note
that both of these concepts are very coterminous with each and each can be said to be in a
kind of symbiotic relationship with the other. Therefore, to break away from the monotony of
their present life and routines the students and other concerned individuals not only need to
take the help of the concept of disruption but of creativity as well (Barth 2017). It can be said
that the process of creativity after the process of disruption has been achieved (Barth 2017).
Thus, for the disruption of the every routine the process of disruption is required and to
complete the same task in an innovative manner the concept of creativity is required (Barth
2017).
To conclude, it becomes that the concepts of disruption and creativity are very
important ones and the various individuals often take the help of their two concepts to break
away from the monotony of their lives. The concepts of disruption and creativity are often
used by the various individuals and especially the students to do things in a much more better
manner and also to enhance the level of their performance. Furthermore, it is interesting to
note that the concepts of disruption and creativity are very important ones to break away from
the routine life which most of the individuals in the present day lead. Thus, it can be said that
the two processes are in a kind of symbiotic relationship with each other for the effective
achievement of one particular process the other one is required.
