INTRODUCTION
Self- development is very important for the better working and having good professional
and academic life. This is essential as the self- development will assist in developing oneself and
trying to work in proper and effective manner. The current report will outline the reflection based
on the presentation. This will majorly focus on the effective use of motivational and teamwork
theories for the effective completion of the project. In addition to this the use of CVF that is
Competing Value Framework will be highlighted.
MAIN BODY
Reflection of group work using teamwork and motivational theories
With the presentation making on Mary Seacole I learnt that working in the group is very
important. This is particularly because of the reason that when the work is being undertaken in a
group then this affect the working capabilities of all the people working in the group (Badubi,
2017). The reason underlying this fact is that when the work is being undertaken within the team
then this motivates all the people to work in good and effective manner. When two or more
people work together then they discuss different things and come up with different ideas and
work in more effective and better manner. With the presentation making on Mary Seacole I
learnt that the most essential aspect is forming the team in proper and effective manner. The
major reason pertaining to this fact is that when the team will not be good then the outcome of
the team work will not be up to the mark. Hence, it is very essential for the group to be formed in
proper and effective manner such that all the objectives of the group are being achieved.
Hence, this group can be formed with help of the Tuckman team development theory.
This is pertaining to the fact that when the team will be framed with help of this model then it
will result in proper attainment of the objectives of the team. This method involves the following
stages-
 Forming- for making the present on historical personality the first thing undertaken was
forming the team. Under this stage the different members were selected in order to
complete the project. Here all the people who are capable of undertaking the project are
grouped together for completing the work (Ford and et.al., 2020).
 Storming- this is the stage wherein the people selected for the group project are allowed
to communicate with one another. This is being done because of the reason that when the

people will not be comfortable with one another then they will not be in position to work
in coordinated manner. Hence, for the effective completion of the presentation over Mary
Seacole storming is very important.
 Norming- in addition to storming, comes the stage of norming wherein the selected group
members are being provided with the rules and regulation and guidance that how they
have to work in a team (Quested and et.al., 2017). This is very essential because of the
reason that there are many people within the group and this can lead to conflicts and
issues. Hence, it is essential for the success of the group work that they must have
complete knowledge relating to way of working in a group which is provided in norming
stage.
 Performing- this is the stage wherein the actual performance of the task is being
undertaken. Here the work is being undertaken for which the group is formed that is
analysing the history of the person that is Mary Seacole. This is very important for the
success of presentation as if the work is not performed in proper and effective manner
then the objective of group will not be maintained.
 Adjourning- this is the last stage wherein after attaining the objective of the group it
comes to an end. Hence, for the success of the presentation it is very important that the
objective of the study is being attained and implemented in proper and effective manner.
Hence, the compliance with this team development model will definitely result in success
in the completion of the task being provided. This is very essential as this will provide a clarity
among the members that which work they have to undertake and how they have to reach the
objectives of study. In addition to this, at some point of time during the presentation some issues
were identified which affected the working in negative manner. Hence, for this the use of
different motivational theory is very essential and important to be implemented. This is
necessary because when more people work together then there are chances that conflict arises
and in this case use of motivational theories will be assistive.
Further I learnt that with respect to the content theory, the use of McClelland human
motivation theory is helpful. This is pertaining to the fact that this theory states that every person
has majorly three different motivators which stimulate the person to work (Sherman, 2017). This
involves need for achievement, affiliation and power. These are the three major aspect for which
the person actually works. Hence, which there is any conflict among the people while working in

a group any one of the motivator can be used to motivate the person to work in proper and
effective manner. This is pertaining to the fact that when the person will be having some
motivator then they will work in proper and effective manner (Acquah and et.al., 2021). Hence,
it is the responsibility of all the team members that they must effectively focus on motivating the
team member so that they can work in effective and efficient manner. For instance, if a person is
being motivated with power then the team member must be provided with effective power so
that they can work in effective and efficient manner.
On the other hand, in case the person is being motivated with the achievement and is
achievement oriented then they must effectively work and focus on achieving the objective of the
business. this is very crucial because of the reason that if the person will be focused on the
achieving the objective for which the study is being made. Hence, this will motivate the people
in team to work in proper and effective manner. Thus, this will not demotivate the people and the
working will be effectively being undertaken and the goals of the team will be attained.
In addition to the content theory, the process theory is also assistive in analysing the need
and requirement of the people working in a team. This is pertaining to the fact that when the
people will not be motivated then this will ensure that all the people within the team are working
in proper and effective manner. The theory used under process theory of motivation is the Adam
Equity theory. This is pertaining to the fact that this theory focuses on balancing the input which
the person is giving and the output which they are receiving against these input. There needs to
be a balance between the input and output so that the people within the team are motivated. This
is done to ensure that the people are working in proper and effective manner. In case the output
of the working is more than the input being provided by people then this will motivate the team
to work in proper and effective manner (Theories of motivation- content theories, process
theories, 2021). Hence this Adam Equity theory is also beneficial for motivating the people
working in team in order to ensure that there are not any conflict and ego clashes. This is
particularly because of the reason that the use of both these motivational theories will assist the
team in working in proper and effective manner so that the objective of the study can be attained.
Use of CVF
With the above evaluation it is clear that it is very important for the team to employ
different motivational and team management theories. This is necessary because of the reason
that when these theories and models are implemented then this will ensure that all the people
Document Page
within the team are motivated and are working in proper and effective manner. Hence, for this it
is also very essential that the person continuously ensure that CVF is being implemented. This is
essential because of the reason that when the competing value framework will assist in analysing
the skills and learning of the person (Goodman, 2018). The major reason for the implementation
of the CVF is that this will assist the company in analysing the external environment. The reason
underlying this fact is that the person has to work in external environment and there are many
changes within the external environment. Hence, for this it is very essential for the people to
effectively train themselves with the latest trends and skills which a person need to possess at
time of working in a team.
Under the CVF there are majorly four culture types which can be used in order to analyse
that whether the person is having all the different types of skills or not. The reason behind this
fact is that when the person faces or is in different cultures then it is necessary for the person that
they must have the necessary skills. This is necessary so that the people can easily manage any
type of the situation (Thornley and et.al., 2017). Hence, the different cultures present are clan,
adhocracy, hierarchy and market. It is very essential for the people within the team that they
must undertake and inculcate all the skills necessary in dealing with any of the culture present.
Hence, for dealing with these culture there are different skills like teamwork, collaboration and
coordination, innovation, monitoring, planning and many other different types of skills.
Hence, for the success of the presentation it is very important that the people within the
team are able to manage and maintain the learning of different skills. This is pertaining to the
fact that when the person is capable of managing all these cultures in proper and effective
manner then it can be stated that they are having the relevant skills and knowledge. Along with
this, the different types of the culture will ensure that the people are able to manage and maintain
the team work in proper and effective manner. This is pertaining to the fact that when the team
and different cultures are managed in coordinated manner then this will motivate all the other
team members to work in better and effective manner as well.
Therefore, it is very important for the people within the team that they must all work in
coordinated manner so that objectives of the study can be attained. Hence, the use of competing
value framework will assist the company in evaluating the requirement of the person for dealing
within the external environment (Amerkhanova and Murat, 2018). This is essential for the
Document Page
success of the presentation as all the team members are capable and they are in position to work
in proper and effective manner.
CONCLUSION
With the evaluation of the above analysis and discussion it is clear that the self-
development is very essential for the success of the person. The major reason behind this fact is
that the competition within the market is very high and to stand out the person needs to possess
some distinct features and skills. Hence, the report evaluated the importance of different types of
motivational and team working theories. The use of process and content theory of motivation
was undertaken in order to keep the working of team intact with the objective of the presentation.
Along with this the use of the Tuckman team development process was also used for framing the
team in proper and effective manner. In the end the use of CVF that is Competing Value
Framework was also used in order to identify the difference between the skills possessed by the
person and skill required within the external competitive market.
