Summary:
The articles deal with the ways leaders should use communication to execute strategies in the 21st
century. The strategies of an effective organization are mainly formulated by the C-suites, which
include the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief
Communications Officer (CCO) and Chief Operational Officer (COO) of a company (Neill
2015). With the expansion of an organization geographically, the corporate strategies should be
made accordingly such that there is no change in the organizational goals. However, there will be
a shift in the strategies that should be properly communicated to the employees. The
communications officer should follow certain rules to use communication power effectively.
Firstly, the leader should have a clear idea of the strategy he/she is going to implement such that
the strategy can be repeated consistently (Argenti 2017). This will help the employees to
understand the working tactics of the company better, which will directly lead to more
productivity and improved quality. Secondly, the aim of the leader should be building a strong
organizational culture. The environment and culture of a company are the main determinants of
employee motivation. The findings of a research reveal that the staffs who are excited about their
workplace are the more productive ones (Dobre 2013). The leader should focus on establishing a
friendly relationship with his subordinates. They should feel free to communicate any type of
problem to their superiors. Two-way communication is the key to effective execution of
strategies. The line hierarchy, which means that the subordinates should follow the chain to
communicate to their superiors, should be followed. For example, if the employees face any kind
of problem then he/she should first communicate to the Head of the Department and not the
Director. Therefore, a correct chain should be followed in order to maintain a proper
organization culture. Thirdly, the good and the bad characteristics of a company should be
communicated to the employees so that they can understand the company goals and objectives
(Sull Homkes and Sull 2015). The leaders should be able to understand the tensions of his
employees and plan accordingly to reduce them (Lewis Andriopoulos and Smith 2014). Face-to-
face communication between the leader and the labourer is significantly essential to build a
strong culture. The leader should also facilitate decentralized decision-making process. This can
be explained as the process of involving the subordinates in decision-making. Their views should
be taken into considerations that is expected to improve the quality of decisions. This study will
help the management students perform further quantitative research on this topic.
Communication in any organization is important to eliminate the resistances or barriers that
exists. It helps to solve problems and motivate the employees to adjust with change in the
implementation of strategy.
