Presently, changes occurred in the business environment, which are accompanied with the
unprecedented technological changes, have meaningfully affect the manner in which corporate
communication is defined, taught, and implemented in the business world across the globe. This
assignment mainly considers those changes which includes effect of the technology on the
corporate communication. The main aim of this paper is to present challenges and opportunities
brought by the technology in context of corporate communication.
There is no doubt that technology completely transformed the manner in which we consume the
media and receive the news. Now, this generation has access to the limitless amount of data and
also the information through the internet. This development of technology has a reflective impact
on how the organization communicates with their audiences. All these developments create
number of challenges for the organizations such as smartphones result in the instant
communication and also in the constant connectivity. Almost 20 years ago, news channels
broadcast only professional grade footage, but now these cellphone and social media becomes
the platform on which everyone wants to breaks the news first.
Another challenge imposed by technology on corporate communication is personalization of
news. As, media consumption much more focuses on the interest of individual instead of
community interest. Linear TVs becomes the immense trend and now people can watch what
they want and when they want because of the immense services offered by service providers.
Now, there is no need for people to read the newspapers, because they get all the information
from the social media, TVs, etc (Communicate online, 2017).
However, technology development also provides the number of opportunities in context of
corporate communication such as it becomes easy to reach to employees in case of any
emergency. In past, employers can only reach the employees at the time when employees are
working on their desk, but now things are completely changed because now employers can reach
their workers through the cellphones at any time even in the non-working hours. Not only phones
provide the business opportunities, but computers are also in the line. As availability of
computers and internet services give the opportunity to connect with the world, and this extend
the scope of business activities conducted by the organizations (Kazmeyer, 2018). Some other
advantages are also provided by the technology in context of business communication such as
make strong business culture and class relations, communication with customers becomes easy,
research capacity of the company increased, etc.
Corporate communication also play important role in conext of development and implementation
of the corporate strategy, execution of strategy through communication is the effective and
efficient concept. As stated by the Argenti, (2017), the most important element in context of
clear spoken strategy is that it must repeat broadly and consistently in the whole organization and
also the audience which are appropriate. Management must focus on the deliberate development
of the culture of employee’s engagement for the purpose of executing the strategy through
