1. Introduction
The development of the various types of project has been eased by the help of effective
project planning and management. According to Svejvig and Andersen (2015), the principles of
project management are implied for developing the increased efficiency and development of the
project integration management. The development of the project operation and the use of
effective project analysis would allow the formation of the system development. The various
types of project like software and application development, construction projects, event
management, and travel planning are being developed by using methodologies like prince2 and
PMBOK (Martinelli and Milosevic 2016). The project lifecycle is formed by selecting the
methodology and aligning activities in that manner.
The following assignment is a project management report that consists of the some initial
information regarding the project. The project selected for the management report is
“Development of the mobile application for the retail organization”. The project would involve
the use of project initialization process, project planning process, mobile application
development techniques, and project closure. The report would involve the overview of the
project by pointing out the objectives, scope, exclusions, constraints, and deliverables of the
project. The work breakdown structure and explanation of the work package have been also
mentioned in the report. The final section of the report would explain the risk management plan
and project structure.

organization” requires the development of the operations and formation of the effective and
improved organization. The project plan, cost estimation, risk management plan, and change
management would be helpful for overcoming the issues in change implementation.

4. Explanation of a Work Package
The work package can be defined as the collection of sub-activities and aligning them
under a subproject (Nicholas and Steyn 2017). The complete project is formed for ensuring the
development of the effective and improved project operations for developing the mobile
application for the retail organization. The complete project of the “Development of the mobile
application for the retail organization” is divided into 7 work package namely Research and
Business Discovery, Planning Development, Prototyping the user flow, Graphic Design,
Development of Mobile app, Testing, and Marketing and Launch. These work packages are
formed in an integrated form for the complete project schedule and have been explained below,
Work Package of Research and Business Discovery: The research and business
discovery is the first work package of the complete project plan. It involves activities of project
vision development, analysing the application development requirements, resource

accumulation, project team build up, project charter documentation, and risk management plan
(Mir and Pinnington 2014). The work package is a sub-project of the main project of the
“Development of the mobile application for the retail organization” and it would help in
initiating the project plan for the development of the improved project development.
Work Package of Planning Development: The planning development is the most
significant alignment of the project planning methodology for ensuring that the project plan for
the project of the “Development of the mobile application for the retail organization” is
developed successfully. The activities include making list of activities required in mobile app
development, selecting project plan methodology, developing plan outline, review of the plan,
complete plan development, and plan approval (Hegazy 2013). These activities would help in
ensuring that the project plan is developed effectively.
Work package of Prototyping the user flow: The prototyping of the user flow is carried
on for the development of an effective prototype of the mobile application and testing it for
getting appropriate test results for the project of the “Development of the mobile application for
the retail organization”. The analysis of the guidelines and rules of app development, concept
development, interactive visualization of the application and wireframes are developed are the
activities of this work package.
Work Package of Graphic Design: The graphic design is implemented in the project for

collecting and analysing the design questionnaire, implying the wireframes developed, user
interface design is developed, simulation of design for testing, review of the design, and design is

retail organization” involves the formation of the specific design of the mobile.
Work package of Development of Mobile app: The mobile app development is the
most crucial operation of the project of the “Development of the mobile application for the retail
organization”. The mobile application development would involve the following activities listing
the program and functions required, selecting coding platform for the app, coding the mobile app
program, and integration of the application and database. The mobile application development
consists of the technical development of the project.
Work Package of Testing: The work package of the testing for the project of the
“Development of the mobile application for the retail organization” is helpful for analysing the
mobile design, prototype, database integration, and coding for the mobile app. The activities of
black box testing, white box testing, UX testing, and UI testing are included in this work package
and the test results are analysed for ensuring the operative functions of the mobile application.
Work package of Marketing and Launch: The work package of marketing and launch
is helpful for promoting the mobile application using various platforms and launch the
application. The analysis of application developed, review with client, development of marketing
plan, marketing via social media, blogs, websites, and advertising, launch event planning and

5. Risk Management and Risk Register
Risk Management is an effective and improved process of developing a plan for
managing the probable issues of the project and develop some strategies for the reduction of the
impact on the project (Yildiz et al. 2014). The project of the “Development of the mobile
application for the retail organization” is an application development project and there are

probabilities that the project might face risks. The risks of the project that can have a negative
impact on the project are technical risk, operational risk, and functional risk.
5.1 Risk Management Plan
The risk management plan is a chain mechanism that helps in risk management and
reduction of the issues of the risk by developing some mitigation strategies for the risk faced in
the project (Pritchard and PMP 2014). The risk management plan comprises of identification of
the risk, analysis of the risk, evaluation of the risk, and mitigation of the risk. These processes
have been explained below,
Identification of the Risk: The identification of the risk is the first process of the risk
management plan. The process is marked by the analysis of the processes of the project and
sorting the various risks that can impact the project. The identification of the risk is done by the
help of the past reports, surveys, and discussion with the project team. The project of the
“Development of the mobile application for the retail organization” would face the probability of
issues in designing, cost overrun, conflict among team, system incompatibility, and delay in
operation.
Analysis of the Risk: The analysis of the risk is an improved function for the
development of specific operation. The analysis of the risk is applied for developing the
improved operation and formation of the effective system development. The analysis is based on
the impact and probability of occurrence of the risk (Martinelli and Milosevic 2016). The
analysis would help in developing ratings to the risk factors according to the factor of occurrence

The project has been structured by following the agile methodology for forming the

It can be concluded from the assignment that the alignment of the project management
