1. Project Case and organizational context
The application of mobile includes convergence between the information technologies
and the telecommunication technologies. The mobile application is new application included in
the information system and provides a new research area. Mobile application includes a three tier
architecture and includes execution over multiple layers such as presentation layer, application
layer and database layer (Latif, Lakhrissi & Es-Sbai, 2016). The organization that is taken in this
project management report is FoodWorks Supermarket. This is a retails store that is run by
AURL (Australian United Retailers Limited). The company has over 400 supermarkets that is
spread over seven states. FoodWorks Supermarket provides fresh products to the customers and
provides contemporary approach in the retail business.
The technologies that are included in FoodWorks Supermarket includes all the IT
services, business intelligence, include automation process of utilizing the technology, and also
includes data analytics. The company also maintains vendor relationship, and includes tele-
communication, provides solution for card payment, and includes broadband and Point of sale to
the vendors. But the services that was provided by FoodWorks were only store service. They
were not having mobile application ordering service. In their business, the head of the
technology department Brad Slater wanted to design a mobile application for the business to
make the service more convenient.
Project schedule and budget: The project will take 223 days to complete and the total
budget that will be included to complete the mobile application for FoodWorks Supermarket is
estimated to be $435,628.

Problem Statement- The business is having a competition with other retail stores of
providing mobile application service to the customers. So, FoodWorks Supermarket has decided
to develop a mobile application for the business to enhance their service and to sustain in the
market.
Project Objectives- The objective of the this project is to develop a mobile application in
the information system of FoodWorks Supermarket and to implement the mobile application in
the business to provided online delivering service to the customers.
2. Current state of FoodWorks Supermarket
Currently, the company is working on providing store service to the customers. The
customer needs to visit the store and check all the products that are available and buy products
from the store. The information system will be updated accordingly and products in the
inventory will be re-stocked as per the selling rate of the company (Shilton & Greene, 2019). But
the business wants to enhance itself by developing a mobile application for the company. The
mobile application will help to improve the information system of the company and will be able
to provide home delivery service to the customer even if they are not visiting the store. The
customers can order from their home and while travelling from the mobile device.
The project includes improvement of the services provided by FoodWorks Supermarket
by implementing mobile application that helps to access all the important information in the
company and provides mobility service to the customers. FoodWorks Supermarket is a famous
grocery store in Australia and wants to implement mobile based application in the business so

4. Processes and methods to select IS/IT project
The project selection processes and methods used for selecting the project helps the
organization to embrace the business need and provide actual method for determining the impact
that the project will have on the business and measure the assessment of the project. The method
that has been used for selecting this project for FoodWorks Supermarket is benefit measurement
method (Panhale, 2016). This method presents the value of the estimated inflow cash and
outflow cash in the organization. The method used in the benefit measurement methods are cost
ratio, economic value added, scoring model, payback period, net present value, internal rate of
return, opportunity cost, and discounted cash flow.

to be calculated to complete the project successfully. Benefit measurement method is directly
used by the project manager and this method helps to rate the potential project as per the specific

For developing the project, agile methodology is the most appropriate methodology. This
methodology is flexible and any change in customer requirements and project specifications are
possible with the help of agile methodology. This methodology is considered as modern strategy
of project management (Delía et al., 2017). The agile method that is selected for completing this
project includes four major principles. This includes individuals as well as interactions that are
over the processes as well as on the tools. Agile methodology includes working software with
comprehensive documentation and include customer collaboration with contract negotiations and
responds to all the changes that takes place in the development process.
Development of mobile application for FoodWorks Supermarket requires continuous
interaction with the customer and that opportunity is provided only by the agile method of

8. Scope, features, limitations and Issues related to scope change
Scope: The scope of the agile project of mobile application development includes high
level of requirements. The requirements are usually done as user stories and that is done along
with the release plan. The scope of this project also states that the detailed requirement are
necessary for the project and those are stated when they are needed in the system development.
Major features: The process of requirement analysis included in this project is eliciting
requirements and analyzing the requirements. Eliciting requirements includes process to gather
requirements by applying proper communication with the customers. Analyzing the requirements
includes determining quality of requirement and helps to identify the requirements that are not
clear, ambiguous, or incomplete.
Project Limitations: The limitations that the development team might face while
developing the mobile application is communication gap, lack of proper guidance in the team,
and there might also be limited support to develop the software system that is being developed.
Among the agile team members handling the project, there might be communication gap among
the team members and strong communication is needed to mitigate the communication gap. The
team handling the project might not get proper guidance to complete the project with agile
