Part 4 (Individual)
4.1 Reflection
Leaders are an integral part of team and plays a vital role
in team management. A project leader might be the
manager of a project or a separate entity, however, the
main motive of a leader is to ascertain that each and every
team members are giving their best to execute the project
in an efficient manner. Therefore, it can be said that a
project leader’s role is to lead the team and motivate the
tem to perform their best. This is one important quality that
should be present in a leader. Furthermore, a leader should
possess effective decision making skill, which is an
important part of project management. I have understood
the efficient need of possessing knowledge of project
management tools to make use of the same for planning
and execution of a project.
A leader should not be autocratic to impose his/her
decision on the team. A leader should be wise enough to
settle the internal disputes within the team so that the
project can be implemented in best possible way. A leader
is responsible for building a skilled team and for that a
leader needs to learn about the major capabilities of each
of the members.
An IT project manager needs to be very good in decision-
making who can take prompt actions even in difficult
situations. An IT manager needs to have a clear idea of the
specification of a system to be developed in order to
prepare an effective project plan. The manager of an IT
project should be skilled in team management in order to
make a group of people work and perform as a team. In
this MBFSA project that has been undertaken, the project
manager required to possess good communication skill to
indulge in effective communication with the members of a
team regarding concerns that might be faced in the
project.
