The paradise theatre app 2
INTRODUCTION
A movie business, ‘The Paradise Theatre’, is seeking to employ the use of mobile
technology which is currently on the rise to boost their business efficiency and productivity. The
business intends to develop a mobile application to allow their clients to books for movies,
reserve seats and parking slots, order snacks and pay for the services, all these from the comfort
of their mobile devices.
It is required that the app is designed in a manner that it is easy to use by both new and
skilled users, it should use a minimalist approach but at the same time provide all needed
functionalities. It must, therefore, be clear, concise, responsive and have secure payment
methods. (Shneiderman et al., 2016)
In this report, we are going to show how the app was designed and provide a justification
behind the underlying features that were used to develop it that makes it meet the requirements
of a user-friendly interface.
THE PARADISE THEATRE APP
It’s a mobile booking application used by clients to book and pay for their favorite
movies at a time of their convenience, they as well have an option to reserve parking slots, seats
and order refreshments. It can be used by any client hence is designed in a manner that makes it
usable by anyone without the need for prior training.
To ensure that the above requirements are met, the app uses the design principles of
clarity, responsiveness, interactivity, security, and satisfaction. By so doing, it ensures that the
users are able to carry out all the operations they intend to undertake without difficulties. At the
same time, they carry out their transaction in a safe environment (Quiñones & Rusu, 2017).
‘The Paradise Theater’ app meets these design principles by using familiar controls such
as buttons; it also uses image icons that are easily understood by the users. Furthermore, the app
maintains a consistent layout throughout the pages and is designed to minimize errors by
direction users on the next action to take. Flexibility is provided by the use of navigation buttons
that allow a user to move back and forth hence allowing them to change their mind and correct
an earlier decision. In summary, the app employs the use of minimalistic design, the interface is
not only clear but also concise with familiar controls. It, therefore, conform to the need of

simplicity which is the driving force behind the designs of any user interface (Kourouthanassis,
Boletsis, & Lekakos, 2015).
The design of this app, therefore, is influenced by two major considerations, that is
interface usability and user experience. These are regarded as important for any app design.
(Quiñones, Rusu, & Roncagliolo, 2014). This is because the goal of the business is to produce an
intuitive application. The users must not only find it easy but also interesting to use hence they
must be incorporated in the design to deliver a quality end product.
To ensure that the app meets the above-stated usability goals, the designers have ensured
that the interfaces are clear and not crowded with unwanted features, we have maintained
consistent design across all pages and use familiar controls which are easy to memorize. The
prompts are interactive hence directs a new user through until they are through with the
transaction. In addition to this, security which is a major consideration has been catered for by
the use of tested and proven payment methods hence earning the clients trust. (Niranjanamurthy
& Chahar, 2013)
The positive results of using this app are that it meets the requirements for best human-
computer interaction features of a good interface hence it is simple to use without the need to
train users, it also provides better user experience by offering a nice look and feel. Other app and
website with the same features as this is Alibaba’s e-commerce website and Amazon’s mobile
App.
CONCLUSION
Interface usability and user experience are factors that any app designer must ensure are
met in their final product. This is achieved through a minimalist approach of design to ensure
that the interface is simple to understand and easy to use (Neil, 2014). This was the idea upon
which the design of ‘The Paradise Theatre’ app was based hence the delivery of a very user-
friendly application.
