Purpose of the assignment is increasing the efficiency of the restaurant management and staff for
the customers by using PDAs or mobile based wireless food ordering applications.
The application on the user’s mobile will have all the details about the restaurant and food that
are available. On the UI, the user will be able to see the menu where all the applicable options
will be available also there will be a help and about us section from them, the user can contact
the management.
Through this application, the staff and management team will get more accurate because of the
customer real-time feedback system and also the quality of the food and staff will be in under
control.
Introduction:
The online food ordering method is now possible because of the researches and the advancement
in the field of Information and Communication Technology. Now one can order food according
to their wish from anywhere at any time. They just need to download and install a mobile-based
food ordering application like Hungryhouse, Ubereats, Just Eat, Deliveroo etc. in their android or
IOS mobile phone and start ordering food from any restaurant that is available in the sections.
For the payment process, users can use the electronic mode of payment where E-money is used
as a transfer of money which is the same as the cash payment but in a digital way. A customer
can order the food and go to payment sections, where they can transfer money to the restaurant’s
bank account using their credit or debit card.
PDAs or Personal Digital Assistants have the ability to communicate with any other PDAs or
any personal computer through internet connectivity. This helps customers to request any
possible thing from their home place and get it there as well. This digital ordering system will let
the users send their order request which will be received by the management and the kitchen
respectively where the payment of the order will be handled by the management while the
kitchen will prepare the meal. Using this system, users have to wait very less for the meal. Thus
this system would be time-saving as well. This topic includes the scope of the project, project
characteristics, design and implementation of the application.
a. User interface design for your application–
This user interface designed is inspired by the Nielson’s Heuristics usability principal where
appropriate qualities are designed for the compatibility of the user.
Visibility: the application will keep updating the user about what is going on and what the
user can do right now so that the user won’t get confused with a blank screen.
Match between system and the real world: The language that is used is same as the
speaking language of the user for the coordination between the user and the system.
User control and freedom: if users, by mistake, choose any unwanted state then there
should be an “emergency exit” button, therefore, the application is so designed that it supports
undo and redo options.

for the user. That is why Help section is evolved for these kinds of concerns.
A basic principle for the design that is used in this application is that ‘ease of use’. Everything
that is designed should be in an appropriate manner and appropriate way. No one wants too
many screens, popups, and other irrelevant items on the screen while they are ordering their
food.
According to the Business requirement, there should be a platform which can connect customers
from different place to the providers in that particular place and also let the customers know
about the offers and deals of the providers so that the providers can get maximum customers and
system can grow accordingly. This application is a platform or interface between the customer
and the providers. This solves the connectivity issue and helps the business to grow.
Also, there might be many platforms like one, so make this platform a little different from others,
the focus is on the ease of use of the application and more and more clients and customers should
be added to it. For that, promoting the application on social media like Facebook, Instagram can
be the best way to increase production and grow business.
d. Discussion on similar interfaces
The design of Sydney Korean BBQ is inspired by Deliveroo app. Deliveroo app uses a user
interface which is not that typical but also not easy than Sydney Korean BBQ.
Navigation is as easy as the Deliveroo application User can easily find out their need and
easily order their meal.
The layout is almost similar to the Deliveroo application where Home section provides the
latest deals and offers and Menu section provides the deals that are suitable for the user.
The help section is arranged similarly to Deliveroo application and FAQs are used for the
quick solutions of user’s queries.
About us section is similar to Deliveroo application to provide only appropriate information
about the application for the user to gain trust.
Graphics are so designed that would not make any effect on the application like hanging or
buffering effect because large graphics files need more time to appear. That is better quality
from Deliveroo app.
Location service which is provided by the Deliveroo application is more attractive than the
Sydney Korean BBQ application because of the large use of graphics.
Conclusion:
In this paper, the presented Food ordering application is developed and its qualities are
discussed. This application is PDA based which allows user to order food from any restaurant to
their own place or they can also book tables at the restaurant on a specific time. This convenient,
effective system will also be able to work with the quality of the restaurant.
The Proposed system would attract the customer by its design, ease of use and products and will
also improve and maintain the quality of the restaurants as well as the ordering and billing
section.
Overall conclusion is that an effective and simple food ordering system is made by using the
wireless technology, Internet, and Android or IOS device.
