Individual Reflective Presentation - Module Learning

REFLECTIVE
PRESENTATION

INTRODUCTION
The presentation demonstrates reflection done
by an individual over the different activities carried
out over the course of module.
For the purpose of doing reflection, Gibbs
reflective model is used.
This model will assist the individual in
reflection upon the experiences driven while
undergoing the formative, summative and module.

REFLECTION
 During the course of module, a number of
activities were carried out by me
individually as well as some in groups.
 The execution of these activities created
an enriching experience for me allowing
me to carry out the development of my
skill set, competences and knowledge
base.

To explain this in a detailed manner, I
have made use of Gibbs Reflective Cycle
which will help me in presenting my
experiences and learning with the help of
certain stages.
Gibbs Reflective Model is a model used
for reflecting upon skills and experiences of
a person and is the composition of 6 stages.

Description
This is the first stage of the reflective style which lays down
the description of the event and the way it happened. It
basically lays out the introduction to occurrence of any
activity, experience or event. Now, during the course of
module, I carried out several activities and tasks. These
included learning about Harvard Referencing system,
paraphrasing, development of academic writing style and so
on.

Feeling
This is the second stage of the Gibbs reflective cycle which
clearly states the feeling of the learner during the module. With
reference to my personal experience related to the learning
module, it can be said that at the initial time, I was very excited
about the learning experience as I know this would help me out
in learning new things that would definitely contribute in
maximising growth in the academic life.

Evaluation
It is the third stage of the reflective cycle where overall evaluation of
the particular experience is being done by the individual so that they
can further analyse that what have went right and wrong with them
during the experience. In context of my personal experience related
to the same, the overall experience includes several number of
situation from which I have gone through this phase. The overall good
experience related to the learning phase in the course work was
associated with my strong team working and coordination.

Analysis
After evaluating all the phases associated with the learning
experience during the coursework, the next stage is about
the analysis of whole experience. While analysing my
personal experience related with the same, it can be said
that the main reason behind my lack of effective
communication was my shy nature. Also, in the initial
schooling days I have never spoken in the class.

Conclusion
This is the second last stage where overall conclusions
associated with the self evaluation have been made so that
respective person could simply take effective initiative so
that improvement initiative towards the same can be taken in
the near future. From the overall analysis, the conclusion is
has been drawn that my team working and coordination skills
were quite well that does not require any sort of
improvement or additional efforts.

Action Plan
This being the last stage of Gibbs Reflective cycle is concerned
with executing plan of action by deriving conclusion based on
the previous stages of the model. This is considered as the
most crucial stage of the whole cycle of reflection as this
enables a person to carry out improvement in their
competences, skill set and knowledge base.

CONCLUSION
On the basis of discussion done in the presentation, it can be said that
reflective writing is important for an individual, whether in professional or
academic settings.
In addition to this, it has been inferred that communication skill is an
imperative skill which is required by a person to deliver one’s thoughts and
ideology over a subject matter.
