Introduction
In order to become a care giver, there are various potential factors and issues that need to
be evaluated. In the current scope of analysis using 5R’s an article by Plank, Mazzoni and
Cavada (2012) has been evaluated. The current scope of analysis includes self-perspective on the
illness of the person, relation to own experience and self-perception, morals and ethics related to
the same.
Reflective Analysis
Applying 5 R’s in the reflection analysis allows arriving at step by step diagnosis of the
challenge. In the first step reporting of the issue is undertaken (Strampel & Oliver, 2010). The
article evaluates condition of patients discharged frequently from hospitals in Italy and then the
care that they receive once they reach home. Family persons might not be able to provide the
transitory care that is required by the patient at the time they reach home from the hospital. In the
second step, relating is established. It is at this juncture that relating to my personal experience is
undertaken, where my grandfather received care from family members post getting discharged
from hospital. I was very young at that time and my grandfather had experienced comorbidity,
for which he was admitted into the hospital. After few days of attention being given at home, his
condition deteriorated further and he had to be admitted back into the hospital. This proves that
care from informal care givers can be fatal in nature. Reasoning of the issue is the next step to
the 5 R’s. Through sufficient reasoning it can be established that informal caregivers cannot
provide similar care as can be given by formal or professional caregivers. Family persons need to
learn from formal caregivers processes and procedures prior to providing care to the individual in
need. In the next stage of reconstructing, conclusion can be effectively drawn from the issue.
Concluding from the issue it can be said that professional caregivers have numerous roles to
fulfill along with several commitments. Varied social roles also need to be adhered to by care
givers themselves which involves roles of safety and ethics. This cannot be provided by an
unprofessional as they cannot be expected to cope with the demands of the patient. Therefore,
according to me, ethically a professional care giver needs to be appointed such that families can
cope with the demands of the care-giving. Moreover, healthcare professionals need to recognize
caregivers as persons who can assist in emotional and practical support. Thus, it becomes
essential to appoint caregivers for transiting patients.

Conclusion
Transiting patients often experiences a wide range of dilemmas and stigmas. While such
patients shift to their homes, they are often provided care from their family persons. This might
result in serious challenges. Thus, healthcare providers and also family members need to view
care givers as more professional role than currently deemed. It can allow patients to heal and
adjust to home conditions at a better pace.
