INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is defined as department of business industry where people
involves to perform their actions and develop business productivity. If all functions are managed
properly then it will be good opportunity to grow their business. HRM is a strategic approach to
effective and proper management of resources that supports to develop the organizational
performance (Collings, Wood and Szamosi, 2018). It is handling multiple profile and task by
hiring skilled and talented people. It has seen that there are different issues pertaining while
doing a business where it is important to bring new changes and solution after conducting market
research that can help to reach nearby organizational goals. To understand about HRM issues,
Morrison supermarket has been selected that is largest chain of supermarket in UK. This
organization was founded in 1899 by William Morrison, for the purpose of providing products to
their customers. The report covers HRM issues, faced by organization and theories to manage the
problems.

organization is operating business in UK by offering range of products and services at retail cost.
The report is going to cover aims, legal regulations, costs and benefits for industry in dealing
with this issue. This also involves recommendation that supports to complete report.

All individuals are main assets of organisation that are playing vital role in an organisation
and controlling all activities by focusing on functions so they can perform well and increases the
organisational profitability. Talent management is the main activity of arranging and managing
people at the workplace that supports to develop business activities and increase performance.

For increasing productivity and brand image there is need to focus on arrangement of employees
and legislation which are formulated for the beneficial of organisation and staff effectively. This
is important for organisation to understand what are the goals and how they can be achieved by
following all strategies. The management is responsible for all activities and functions which are
important to performance and can help to increase the organisational productivity (Dumas and et.
al., 2018).

To identify the impact of talent management at workplace and how issues could be
solved.
Legal Regulations
Laws and regulations is formulated by government for the purpose of benefiting
organization that could help to increase productivity. Talent management is the concept of
arranging and managing skilled people who get ready to work any time and perform well. In
relation to Morrison, management requires to follow regulations while running their business
such as:
Health and safety Act 1974 – This act is related to providing safety to their staff as they get
injured while working that create the challenge to work continuously. If organization is able to
provide safety to their staff, then it will be good opportunity to retaining employees. In relation
to Morrison, HR management follow health & safety act by providing safety measures to their
staff which helps to make feel safe and secure. This helps to increase business productivity and
employee engagement.
Equal pay Act 1970 – This act is given by Parliament of UK for the purpose of treating all
employees equally and managing business activities. This act prohibits any less favourable
treatment between men and women in terms of pay and employment. According to this, all staff
whether men and women should be treated equally as it builds morale of their employees and get
ready to work done effectively. This regulation could apply by Morrison, by providing equal pay
and opportunity to their staff that helps to make feel good and increase business performance
( Ballantyne, 2018).

changing environment bring changes at their workplace by using new technology, and selecting
right candidate to manage work. The culture, behaviour, values, and skills are considered as
effective factor that focused by HR managers to identify problems and get optimum solution. In
relation to Morrison, HR management is faced issues as it does not follow talent management
that directly impacts on their business industry. The issues are defined below:
Increasing employee turnover – Employee are the assets of any organization who ready
to work collectively at workplace if they motivated. In case organization is not following talent
management strategies then it could be challenging to regulate its business. It has seen that
employee turnover of Morrison is increasing day by day due to lack of satisfaction and
motivation. This directly affected business productivity and performance in changing
environment (Honarpour, Jusoh and Md Nor, 2018).
To resolve this issue, there is need to follow motivation and talent management process
that will help to fill employee needs and encouraged to work well. This can help to develop the
business productivity by retaining employees.
Conflicts arises – Communication is the important aspect for individual and group of
people where it became important to share information between employer to employees and vice
versa. If there is lack of communication, then chances of conflicts in organization and affected
productivity. In relation to Morrison, employer faced the issue of conflicts between employees as

there is no proper source of communication and having different behaviour that created
challenge for organization to operate its business. Morrison is larger supermarket, faced issue of
conflicts between employer and employees due to lack of communication that impacts negatively
on their business and profitability.
To resolve this issue, management of Morrison should behave politely with their
employees, understand their problems, and providing optimum solution that can help to increase
the business productivity and maintain good relations (Meyer and Grosse, 2018).
Challenging working environment – For each organization it is important to have good
working environment where employees can participate in activities and perform it well. This
directly impacts on business industry as low profits and competitive challenges. It has seen that if
environment is not appropriate then it will directly impact on employee’s working. In relation to
Morrison, employer noticed that employee is not working well as they faced challenges to accept
new changes due to language barrier and lack of new technology that directly affected business
sales and production.
To resolve issue of challenging working environment at selected workplace, employer
should provide training and development programme to their employees which can help to
improves learning of their employees and maintain higher performance. Thus can help to
increase organizational performance and productivity.
Strategies to resolve issue and retaining staff:
Recruitment and selection – This is effective strategy which is used by companies to
recruit and select best person and manage their work effectively. The HR management of
Morrison is responsible to follow this strategy by recruiting and selecting best staff that can help
to increase the business performance by doing well work and managing all functions (Pool-
Funai, 2018).
Favourable working environment: Manpower of company wants cool and pleasant
working environment to do their work. Managers of company must provide favourable working
environment to their employees so that productivity of company can boost up. By providing
good working environment could be opportunity for chosen organization to develop their
business. This type of environment provides healthful capabilities while performing task. It
expands employee’s happiness and creativity as well as profitability of company. In relation to

working environment and managing work accordingly (Gibbons, 2018).
Motivation to employees - Motivation helps personnel to achieve their individual goals.
Managers of venture should motivate their human resources to get their task completed in an
effective manner. If managers make them feel motivated, then employees will be like to work
harder than before for the company. And if they are not motivated then they will have less
contribution towards success of company. In relation to Morrison, HR management should fill
employee’s needs and provide various benefits which could help to influence and motivate the
staff. This can help to increase the business performance and productivity effectively (Amoako,
2019).
Recommendations/suggestions
From the above discussion it is recommended to Morrison to provide proper training to
their staff by selecting right people that would help to resolve HR issues. This can help to
increase business performance by managing each function and operating work from effective
workplace. The management should motivate their employees by filling their basis and other
needs that make feel them good and ready to work in challenging environment (Starr-Glass,
2019). The management of chosen organization should focus on needs of their staff and provide
them higher level of satisfaction that helps to retain them for long period of time.

From the report it can be concluded that HRM is the main area of handling all issues and
arranging the people at workplace so that, each work will be done effectively. The HR
management should have communication skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills,
and other that can help to attracts individual and select right people for particular profile.
Different HR issues such as low morale, lack of communication, conflict, and changing
environment faced by organization while operating their business. The management requires to
understand needs of their employees and provide various benefits that could help to develop the
business productivity and profitability.
