PERSONAL STATEMENT 2
Personal statement
My passion for medicine originates from my desire to understand how body functions. Having
grown in a family with several doctors, I have developed interest in medicine. The human body
has been my center of concentration trying to understand how its diverse systems interrelate and
function together. My family members who are doctors have played a big role in developing my
passion for doing medicine. They have couched me, giving me permission to watch them using
their skills and knowledge to treat patients. Science is part of my life and I love it so much. It
gives me an opportunity to question the nature and try to find solutions of problems yet to so be
solved.
Medicine is a tough discipline which needs sacrifice and dedication. And since I love
challenging my understanding, it will be my best option to choose. Apart from family doctors, I
have also attended talks from doctors during my secondary school days. I have personally talked
to the doctors and observed them doing their chores when I attended a work experience week at
GP surgery. At this surgery, I come to understand how surgery is operated.
My aspiration for a medical career started in secondary school. This was through my habits and
selection of how I do things. I was good time manager with self-initiated skills which helped me
in my study to reduce pressure and stress. My secondary school best subjects; biology,
chemistry, mathematics, ICT has been pillars of my dream career. Mathematics has played an
important role in making me gain problem-solving skills, biology and chemistry are analytical
subjects while ICT has helped me appreciate the importance of technology in every discipline in
life. The impact of computers in the modern medical laboratory has made eager to learn ICT.

During my free time, I love reading factual books. I also do sports like football and golf. I have
been the captain of my school team and my local team for two years. I usually find time to play
golf though not frequently.
