Motivation for studying human bilogy
My fascination and interest in biology began to develop at a very early age as I grew up
watching science programs as a kid such as David Attenborough documentaries, National
Geographic Channel and Discovery channel which stimulated my interest in knowing about
the living organisms, such as plants, animals and most importantly humans.
As my academic career progressed further, Biology started to become my passion during
school days. I used to spent most of my time reading biology books, particularly which was
related to human biology, the result reflected on my marksheet also. I excelled the primary
school level receiving the highest marks in science exam. This motivated me a lot and from
that day I decided I will make biology as my career. Since my grandfather was a surgeon
himself, he used to tell me stories about how he performed surgery of the patients, gave me
insight about the physiological structure of the human body.
As I grew older, I started gaining interest in human biology. Finding out the seemingly
infinite and amazing things that our body can do, I wanted to know more about the human
body system and how it works. I am highly intrigued by the thought how the complex and
diverse mechanism which constantly undergoes within the human body enables an individual
to function efficiently. I am highly surprized by the fact how a single cell multiplies to form
tissues, which again combines together to give rise to organs and then the entire human body.
The course of human biology helped me to get better understanding of the anatomy,
philosophy and genetics of the human body. I also learned how a disease develops, learning
its pathophysiology and what is does to the body. Among the many branches of human
bilogy, the developmental biology is my favourite as I was always very curious to know how
a baby develops from an embryo in the mother’s womb. I also once saw a baby take birth,

immense love for anatomy and respect for the human body will give me an opportunity to
apply all the knowledge I have gained so far, in the well being of mankind. Moreover, I will
also keep in mind, the useful suggestions and guidance my grandfather provided me, which I
believe will help me in achieving my goal.
Graduate qualities
There are nine qualities that a graduate student should have, among them I believe having a
strong verbal and non-verbal communication skill is very crucial, along with having an in-
depth knowledge about the subject enables the student to secure a bright academic future
ahead, particularly in research purpose. I always had interest in the practical knowledge of a
subject, apart from gathering only theoretical knowledge. It helped me to understand and
explore the application side of the subject. Rather than confining my knowledge to just the
textbook boundaries, I wanted to discover the broader spectrum of it and its application in the
real world. Having a good communication skill from childhood, I listened to the teachers very
carefully and attentively when they used to take class. Even I never hesistated to speak up
and ask questions to the professor when I did not understand something. Since I was always
curious about bilogy, I often asked them questions which were out of the syllabus but
knowledge has no boundaries, the more questions I asked, the more knowledge I gained. I
saw my teachers were also impressed with my attitude, and encouraged other students to be
like me. Not only verbal skills, I was also good in non-verbal communication. When the
teacher used to teach in class, I maintained eye contact with the teacher and also nodded my
head. It gave the teacher a feeling that I am actually listeining to the lecture and is interested
during my internship at a local hospital, which increased my interest in the human biology
even more.
