Analysis
The Maslow’s hierarchy of needs states that in order to motivate the employees at the
workplace, it is important for an organization to satisfy certain needs of an individual. These
needs include physiological needs, safety needs, love and belonging needs, esteem needs, and
lastly self-actualization needs. The Maslow’s hierarchy of needs helps in understanding the
needs of an individual help the organization in fulfilling the same in order to motivate the
employees to work hard for the betterment of themselves as well as for the organization. It helps
the organization in bifurcating the different types of needs of an individual and rank them on the
basis of how important it is for the satisfaction of an individual. The basic motive behind this
theory is to understand the fact that when an employee does have a roof over his head, the food
on his table, and clothes to wear, he cannot feel the motivation in order to work for the
organization. Every coin has two sides (Hopper, 2020). Similarly, there are certain disadvantages
of using the Maslow’s need hierarchy theory within the workplace. It completely ignores the
need to satisfy the cultural differences within an organization. It identifies all the personal needs
of an employee that keeps him motivated however, forgets the fact that in order to encourage the
employees the organization needs to provide them a work environment where each and every
employee respects the cultures, religion and values of its colleagues and make them feel
comfortable. Another negative impact using this theory is that, it gives more emphasis on certain
needs. But, not every individual is same, an individual might find safety needs more important
than esteem needs.
Another theory that can be used for motivating the employees in the workplace is
Hertzberg- two factor theory. This theory states that there are certain factors that leads to
satisfaction and certain factors that leads to dissatisfaction. The two factors of this theory are
hygiene factors and motivation factors. The positive impact of this theory within the workplace
is that it develops healthy, safe, hygienic and friendly environment within the workplace. Since,
implementation of this theory includes recognition to the efforts of the employees, rewarding
them on the basis of their efforts, it helps in boosting the morale and productivity of the

employees (Kotni, and Karumuri, 2018). This helps the company in providing the employees
with enhanced working conditions and leads to better results with respect to the company.
However, it has been identified that there are certain limitations of implementing this theory in to
the workplace. One of the major limitation of using this theory is that it is not guaranteed that
increased satisfaction levels of an individual will lead to enhanced performance of that employee
(Dohlman and et.al., 2019). Many employees are satisfied with what they are getting at the
workplace, however, lack the ability to provide the same to the organization. Another major
problem that the company’s face is that not every individual feel satisfied with what they are
getting. Sometimes the expectations of employees do not match with what has been given by the
organization.
Recommendation
It is to be recommended to company that it should align goals of employees with the
organization. This will help in motivating employees as in order to accomplish
personal goal it will be able to will be contributing in success of company
(Anderman,2020)
It is to be suggested to company that it should involve in task from start to end so
that it an work more effectively as its concept will be clear from the beginning. Along
with this, goals of the company should be SMART as full commitment will be given
by the employees.
In order to implement the theory organization should take feedback from the employees
so that it can identify the area of improvement in engaging with employees. Along
with this, if there is heathy working environment the employee will work more
efficiently as it will fulfill their basic needs.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that leaders play very important role in
increasing the motivation of employees. It is necessary for company to follow this activity
in order to increase the production of firm in the market. Along with this, report has
depicted about motivational theories and the way it can contribute in influencing employees
in new workplace environment. In addition to this, the study has also analyzed the impact of
these theories on employees performance.
