extrinsic and intrinsic. The motivation which comes from inner self in which charges no cost is
called intrinsic motivation. When an employee put more efforts in completing the task is their
internal motivation to make their work qualitative. When employees wants to improve their own
skilled and core values comedy automatically get inspired to complete their work in a systematic
manner. There are some ways employees get motivated through intrinsic ways. Whereas, the
extrinsic motivation works when employees get motivated through external factors like
appreciation appraisal compensation promotions bonus, awards and other personal necessity.
Mainly people get motivated for extrinsic value in order to work for an organisation. They desire
for high salaries and extra bonus to fulfil their basic necessity and career aims. In modern
workplace extensive motivation are mainly found with an employee’s they want to get high
positions with job safety and security (Ryan, and Deci, 2020). They always urge to get incentives
and compensations which will add in their payouts. These benefits motivate employees to work
beyond their capabilities. Many large organisations like apple, Tesco supermarket believe in
employee motivation through providing various benefits to the human resource. As per Maslow
theory of motivation there are 5 basic needs which are required to fulfil of every employee in
order to retain them for long term. Maslow gave a motivation Pyramid in which the needs go
upwards every time employee achieves 1 stage to the other. It means that every time the needs
become higher which is a part of employee’s motivation (Wigfield, and Koenka, 2020). The
very first need is psychological needs in which employees aim to get a basic salary to earn it
livelihood. They work in an organisation for attaining food cloth shelter and sleep which are a
common need for every individual.
Therefore every Organisation in UK provide this much salary which fulfil these needs
and for that instance, employees seek for employment much often. The Other need is safety
names when an employee Gets All the basic requirements they tends to look for their job safety
and security at workplace. There can be any crisis happens during working with machinery and
other equipment’s which may create health issues. The employees look for health and safety
compensations and benefits if uncertainty may arrive. There for the needs to be safe and secure
that will be a motivation for them to work (Mou, Cohen, Bhattacherjee, and Kim, 2022). For
example at Unilever, an employee gets fall due to miss management of shelves which leads to
create negative impact on company. This make others De motivated and afraid of working. The

individuals look for a friendly and interactive environment. They want relations and friendship
which is a motivating factor. When employees get support from their Peers they can work hard.
This kind of environment is necessary in modern workplace to attract young employees and
create great team working which will impact on their productivity and performance. As per the
Esteem needs of Maslow theory when employees find their capabilities and potential, they seeks
for respect dignity and value in the organisation. These needs accomplish by getting authority
and responsibilities and being respected. Employee wants to get power and recognition which
will motivate them to achieve more higher positions. Many reputed organisations like Dyson and
IKEA provide opportunity to get own identity of individuals in the organisation. It makes them
feel valued and hence motivated. The last but the most complex need which an individual
demand for is self actualization (Gagné, Deci, and Ryan, 2018). When an employee get
everything but they need doesn't satisfy at all they require more from their potential. These needs
a difficult to full film which can be achieve by getting personal development opportunities and
high career growth in organisation. McClelland theory of motivation suggest that an individual
requires to satisfy they needs in order to work with dedication. Different individuals have
different needs which motivates people. These needs are ir respective of their age gender culture
and believe full stop as per this theory, the main needs are achievement, power and affiliation.
When an individual give their 100% efforts and dedication towards completing the task
with proper guidance, They require achievement and affiliation for the same. It motivates them
to work in a same manner in future which regard as achievement for them. The need for
achievement is consist on the basis of 4 factors which influence an individual. Completing task
effectively be responsible for own performance comma getting feedback and leads to Innovation
and creativity (Bardach, and Klassen, 2021). The factors are found to be an achievement for
individuals who want to create own identity and get self esteem into the organisation. When they
achieve something big and move closer to their aims the employees require need for power
within the organisation. In the modern workplace no individual would like to hear orders in
commands of their managers in Pears for everyone wants to be there on leader full stop this
means that power also motivates an individual to work according to themselves. This power
needs to be given in right hands so that it would not miss use into company which would affect
other employee’s productivity and performance (Al-Rasheed, 2020). These individuals want to
get control over things and people as according to their way. The Other is need for affiliation in

which the individuals wants to get involve in good activities like team building corporation and
motivating others as well. An affiliation power is high and individual work more deliberately in
organisation. At modern workplace these needs are become necessary as it binds others into a
group which give importance to the cooperation rather than competition. Both power and
acceleration and different terms and has different meaning for individuals. In modern
organisations the companies provide and informal workplaces at which people and it up by
making good relations which are more like a motivation for them to be in the companies favour.
CONCLUSION
The report has concluded that motivation is very necessary in today's workplace
environment. Companies put much pressure on their employees which makes them demotivated
and results in rising turnover ratio. Therefore comma by applying Maslow and McClelland
theory of motivation it has analyse that employees want enormous number of needs from basic
salary to get high level positions and responsibility. The organisation needs to provide all these
wants in order to make them retain and survive in the organisation. It is necessary to fulfil
employees Expectations in order to make full or utilisation of their talent and skills towards
workplace activities. The modern organisations consist a lot of activities and departments to hold
on. So motivation is the only factor which could handle challenges and issues came across the
employees.
