MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH
Today we gathered here in the auditorium with an intention of gathering and sharing
knowledge regarding the wise choice of career, the importance of self-exploration and self-
development. My name enters your name, I was part of this school for enter schooling years
which provided me an experience which I incorporated in my graduation. Later, I have
completed my graduation in business administration which was also a unique experience for me
and I have learned a few life lessons. Before discussing the career path, I would like to state that
when I was invited to this school after my university graduation for presenting a motivational
speech regarding self-exploration, wise career path and self-development, I was quite excited to
share my experience with you since a few years back I was in your position and quite confused
regarding what career path would be suitable for me. I am sure every final year student
presented in the auditorium is confused about the career path just like I was a few years back.
However, thanks to my teachers and parents who guided me and provided me an opportunity of
self-exploration in order to bring best out of me and choose a career which would be best
suitable for me.
As discussed by Kenyon et al. (2015) self-exploration is a process of examination and
analysis of one’s unrealized spiritual and intellectual capacities. Considering the situation of
choosing a career path, self-exploration is a thoughtful process of discovering yourself by
reflecting the past experience and acknowledging the pattern of interests, strength, and habit.
This process is critical in order to make a decision about the bright future and I feel every student
should be provided with the opportunity to explore their inner strength, interest. It would assists
to eliminate choices they think would be suitable for them and take decision focusing on the
interest and strength. Being an alumnus, I can assure you that involving in self-exploration

process is crucial to provide yourself an opportunity to choose your career path wisely since it
will decide your success in the future.
While I was provided with the opportunity of self-exploration, I gained the understanding of the
importance of self-development which I had inadequate knowledge while I was in school. I
chose business administration as a career path which provided me an opportunity to learn who I
am and how this course can make a better person. Although I gained knowledge regarding
business administration, I like to draw attention to the importance of self-development. Choosing
a career path is a part of self-development for me since I gained new skills which would flourish
my future practice. As discussed by Gergely (2018), self-development is a process of taking a
step to better yourself such as learning new skills, overcoming bad habits, identifying strength
and focusing on the weaknesses in order to overcome these weaknesses. While I was in my
graduation, I gained skills and experiences from the ABC business school which will propel my
short term and long term goal. In the business school, I seek the tool and resources needed for
further engagement in my marketing knowledge, perform professional strategic analysis and
evaluate my experiences and skills. Although I gained the skills associated with business school
and how to deal with the client, I have amended a few habits which I had in my school life. I
engage myself in self-reflection practice in order to evaluate skills. I have improved my eating
habits such as I eliminated the eating habit of junks food and replace these habits with healthy
nutritional habits by incorporating leafy vegetables. I involved myself in exercise and joined
mediation classes to improve my self-control. I become more aware of my thought process and
gained my interpersonal skills which further helped me to improve my communication, to reflect
empathy, compassion while communicating with the client. I consider these activities and skills
a part of the self-development process I was unaware of before when I was in my school. After

involving myself in the self-exploration and gathered experience in the business school I gain the
understanding that it is crucial to identify the inner strength and overcome the strength.
Therefore, I assure you that before choosing your career you should involve yourself in self-
exploration and after choosing the career path you must constantly evaluate your skills to
improve your self-development process. I would like to close my discussion wishing every
student of the final year all the best for their career choice. You should remember that maybe you
are confused but it is a unique experience and you must cherish it.
