Chris’s response and the music when Rose hits the deer
- Chris ‘s response to the deer was quite empathetic as he got troubled when he saw the
lying dead in the forest and the cause of the death of the deer was their car. The Chris got
off the car and despite of the rose stopping her, he did stop rather, he kept going to check
out whether the deer was dead or not. The scene was representative of what the Chris has
suffered was the death of his self-esteem due to people criticism towards her (Pera).
Mr. Armitage’s comments about deer
- Mr. Armitage comment about the deer was suspicious when he told them the deer are the
best among the species of the animals as they are have the ability of far-sightedness.
- The deer mounted on the wall in the room where they hold Chris
- The deer mounted on the wall in the room which was depictive of the unusual
relationship of Chris with the deer
- Key dialogues of movie
- Some of the key dialogues that subtly indicated the racism in the movie was the police
officer unnecessary checking the ID of the Chris and the Rose’s father with the taunt tried
to make fun of him by talking about the his grandfather who was black and was unable
to win the race (The Business Communication ).
- Music adds to the scenes
- The music adds the great tone to the dialogues and the scenery thus making easier for the
spectator to understand the importance of the scene as what follows next (Kim). In the
first scene when Chris’s girlfriend was driving the car then all of a sudden, the deer hits
the car with that the strong background music is being played at the back, which was
reflective of some miss happening. Then when Chris got off the car to check whether the
dear is dead or not, he stood silently watching the deer as the music of his inaction is
played at the background (Kim).
- Rose presenting herself as non racist
- The girlfriend of Chris has been the staunch follower of equality as she supported her
boyfriend Chris from harassment. Moreover, she was very concerned about him like his
future investment plans and about his health as she several times asked him to quit
smoking. The rose has also tried to understand the situation when the police made the

racist response to the Chris; she supported Chris by arguing with the police effectively.
She even wore clothes that were represented of the open attitude but as the movie
progresses the attitude of the rose as she started behaving with him in the cold manner.
she even did not support him when people tried laughing at him.
- Two techniques used in the film
- The two techniques that are used in the movies are flashbacks and parallel editing. The
flashback is used in the movie when Rose’s mother tried helping the Chris out when he
was unable to sleep one night through a session. In the session, the Chris sees the hit and
run dream of his mother death that was the flashback mode used in the movie. The
parallel editing mode is used in the movie happened when the Chris discovers the dark
secret of the house and the scenes related to the happenings of the people were shown ,
one was the normal life outside the city while the other one was life inside the house Mr.
Armitage (Cinimagestudio).
The use of close up and brainstorming
- The use of close up and brain storming was highly used in the movie at various episodes
when Mr. Armitage called for the right ways of brainstorming thus resulting in high
degree of confusions among them. In the scenes, the members of the Armitage were seen
doing the brain storming exercises to themselves from the black people ways of thinking
so that no more suspicion could be aroused among them thus resulting the negativity
among the characters.
Elements of Mise-en-scene who were held captive
- In the room where Chris was held captive was a big room with the kind of suspicious air
in it he was held captive on the big sofa chair where his hands were tied to the metal
strips so tightly that he was unable to get over it . The room was little suspicious in the
outlook thus resulting in the air of suspicious of the viewers of the movie
(Cinimagestudio).
