Case Study
AI Summary
This case study focuses on Mr. David, who suffers from chronic lower back pain. The assignment analyzes the pathophysiology of his condition, identifying the role of internal molecular pain mediators like ATP, protons, neurotrophins, and chemokines, which were not functioning properly. A small tumor, considered a cyst, was found in his spine via MRI. The study discusses various medical treatments, primarily focusing on analgesic medications like paracetamol and antipyretic tablets, while acknowledging their potential side effects, such as gastric problems. It also considers the importance of continued exercise for mental health. The assignment emphasizes the need for a comprehensive treatment plan beyond just pain reduction, referencing relevant medical literature. The case study also addresses the effectiveness of NSAIDs for pain management in older people, supporting pain reduction with safe therapeutic use in older populations and minimal yet consistent relief of symptoms is possible with intervention of up to three months.

Personal comments/considerations:
This case study is all about the pathophysiological condition of Mr David who has been suffering
from lower back pain for some years. In the detailed tests and diagnosis, it has been found that the
internal molecular pain mediators like ATP, protons, neurotrophins and chemokines did not work
properly (Da Costa et al., 2017). A small tumour which we are generally considered as cyst has been
found in her spinal at her MRI report. Thus here are some medical treatments are offered to Mr
David. Most of them are medicinal treatment. Those medicines are analgesic which reduces the
pain which he is suffering with. Those medicines are paracetamol and some antipyretic tablets.
Those are generally taken but mouth. But these analgesics have some side effects as well (Chen et
al., 2016). In such a case, he might suffer from some gastric problems as well. He did not stop
regular exercise and cycling as well. Those will be helpful for good mental health. Thus in my
opinion in the case of Mr David only pain reducing analgesic is not the only treatment for his
disease. His treatment must be profound.
