AI Summary
This project investigates the role of line managers and leaders in employee development and wellbeing within Marks and Spencer (M&S). It aims to identify the practices adopted by these managers, the challenges they face, and the significance of employee development in the company. The research employs a positivism philosophy and a deductive approach, utilizing quantitative methods for data collection through questionnaires distributed to 30 M&S employees. The data is then analyzed using frequency distribution to draw conclusions about the impact of leadership on employee welfare and organizational performance. Desklib provides access to this project and many other resources for students.

Section Two: Reasons for choosing this research project
Reasons for choosing the project (e.g links to other subjects you are studying, personal interest, future plans,
knowledge/skills you want to improve, why the topic is important):
The main purpose to conduct present investigation is to identify the role plays by line managers as well as leaders within the procedure of
employee development & wellbeing. The present study also allow investigator to know about the practices that is applied by company for
development of staff members. The present study is significant for various stakeholders such as respective organisation, research worker,
students and many more. With reference to chosen organisation, it assists in developing effective strategies in order to deal with the issues they
faced at the time of employee development which further has positive impact on productivity, profitability and performance of organisation.
Moreover, it help research worker to learn various skills that is research skills, time management, data analysis etc.

According to Valamis, (2021) there are various strategies which has been adopted by the organisation for the development of employee and
employee well being as well. The main objective for implementing and developing strategies for development of employees is to ensure about

Section Five: Research approach and methodologies
What type of research approach and methodologies are you likely to use and why? What your areas of
research will cover:
Research Philosophy: It is referred as the overall development of research assumption, its nature and its knowledge as well. In addition to it,
it is a belief about the manner in which information regarding a specific phenomenon is used, collect and analysed. It is mainly categorised
into two types that is positivism philosophy and interpretivism philosophy (Philosophy and Paradigm of Scientific Research, 2017). With
reference to the topic of present investigation, the philosophy which is appropriate and valuable is positivism. The reason behind choosing is it
include objective viewpoint and help to accumulate quantitative data in less time and cost.
Research Approach: It is defined as the general plan as well as process for conducting an investigation. In addition to it, research approach
may imply data collection and data analysis method used within an investigation. The approach of research is divided into two categories that
is deductive and inductive approach (Kumar, 2018). The approach which will be applied to conduct present investigation is deductive
approach as it assist to evaluate hypothesis or propositions associated to existing theory. Moreover, it also help researcher in generalising data
from general to particular as per the topic.
Research choice: It is basically the process that is used to gather information through qualitative and quantitative methods. Both the forms of
research choice is important for a study but according to the subject of present study, Quantitative as a research choice method is appropriate.
The main and vital reason behind choosing this is that, it helps in assembling numerical information that is based on facts/figures which further
assist to develop positive conclusion.
Data collection: It is the methodological procedure of collecting data regarding a particular subject or the topic of investigation. It is primarily
separated into two parts that is primary & secondary method. In reference to the current study, primary data collection method will be applied
and the important purpose of selecting this is it help in gathering data directly from respondents. Moreover, Questionnaire will be formulated
in order to gather primary information about the topic (Mukherjee, 2019). One of the main reason for selecting this is, it helps in research

individual to gain in-depth knowledge about content which further has positive affect on results of study.
Sampling Method: It is a procedure which is used in statistical analysis and herein predetermined number of
observations is selected from the large or whole population. It is categorised into two types that is probability
as well as non-probability sampling method. With reference to present investigation, random sampling that is a
part of probability sampling is chosen as it will help in choosing large sample size and equal chance to every
respondent. In order to collect data, the 30 employees of M&S are selected as respondents. The reason to
choose employees as participants is they have knowledge regarding background working and policies of
enterprise due to which they provide appropriate information to research worker (Thomas, 2021).
Data analysis: The procedure by which analysis of gathered data is taken place is framed as data analysis. Its
mainly has two forms that is thematic analysis as well as frequency distribution analysis. With reference to
present study, primary data is collected and to analyse it frequency distribution analysis method is suitable and
appropriate. Furthermore, it also help researcher to represent the analysis and findings in the way of charts,
graphs etc (Flick, 2020).
