Multidisciplinary approach and Crime
This study reflects about the influence of various areas of scientific research which
includes psychology, economy and neurobiology of organized crime in its concept. Every other
country experience crime, violation with victimization so, they attempt to ensure security and
safety for its individuals and increase the quality of their life guidelines on crime preventions
formed. Building a safe society is an effort to extend the national and disciplinary boundaries for
summarizing various different crime preventing strategic approaches.
Crime in the general language means an illegal act which is made punishable by the legal
authority or by the act of state. But in modern common law it does not contain any easy or
universally acceptable statement, but in certain purposes legal definition aspect can be provided.
It would not be wrong to say that crime is that category which is itself a system of law. Act of
Crime, the offence or the criminal offence is that harmful offence which is not just dangerous for
any person but to a large community, any society or to the state and such acts are prohibited and
punishable under the system of law. All the laws relating to criminal prospect of most countries
which prohibits criminal offences including rape, murder and theft.
All such power is handed over to the State government to impose restrictions on one’s
freedom for practicing crimes, there is a system which investigates them and conduct trials, guilt
is discovered and the offender is sentenced in a form which sets down an example for the rest of
the society (Barak 2015).
Multidisciplinary approach includes appropriate setting out from various disciplines for
redefining the problems which are of breach of normal boundaries and they are based on
understanding of advanced and critical situations. Its working is usually reviewed as a revolution

which is controlled by skills but it is a simple and involves fundamental statement which is
marked by holy beliefs and not by reductionism. However, it has major barrier which is long
established tradition which is highly focusing on the creation of the boundaries around expertise
areas of the professional practioners. But apparently this tradition is found non-working for the
benefits of the interest of the society sometimes. In recent times the multidisciplinary approach
has attracted the government’s interest as it enlightened the system of thinking for solving
complex problems. The use of multidisciplinary in the recent time has overtaken
interdisciplinary (Taylor 2015).
In both the civil law and common law system self-defense is legitimate but nevertheless a
question always remained in the minds of the prosecution that is finding out the limits amongst
all kinds of defenses related to correct and excessive force and such type of cases all the
evidences are to be collected by using forensic multidisciplinary teams for evaluation of the
prosecutors. Example: there is a situation of a 55 year aged man who got murdered in front of a
near house, where the legal representative informed the team who deals in forensic regarding the
homicide committed by the gunshot. But the neighbor for protecting himself immediately
admitted his responsibility. The fact here was that all the relatives of the victim were narrating
different and their own analysis of the story by assuming that the crime had been committed by
the neighbor so the prosecutor got into some mess and decided to further investigate by the
means such as a npost-mortern report, the K-9 unit exploration and forensic biologist for the
analogy of the case. The aim of this instance was to throw a light on the combined action of
multidisciplinary forensic expert for solving this complex case and most importantly joining
ultra-specialist forensic activities for collecting all the relevant evidences for the formation its
judgment (Ferrara, Sessa and Rendine 2019,).

Multidisciplinary approach is when 2 or more discipline collaborates for achieving a
specific purpose. Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary natured criminology makes it difficult
for the attempters to find its final and conclusive definition as criminology requires the basic
information on matter related to science which makes a relevant contribution for it (Akrivos and
Antoniou 2019).
Although multidisciplinary approach had been in existence since decades but they have
got widespread acceptance and adoption in the recent times. Different communities may have
different political and geographical issues but multidisciplinary committees can be developed in
any community and that to with limited resources. But these are very challenging to be
implemented as it needs a very charismatic and an energetic leader in the community who can
become an advocate for the changes in the societal systems, responding to the elder systems of
influential politically savvy abuse, which is obtained by cooperation with the heads of the
multiple agencies ( Schulte and Dinant 2016)
Multidisciplinary team can be defined as a group or is comprised of three or more
disciplinary representatives who works jointly for a common purpose to achieve a shared goal
addressing the same definition of the problem. It has 5 characteristics those are equal
participation in decision making process, partnership, interdependence i.e. team influence the
team and the individual outcomes, balanced power and process i.e. the development using
protocols.
This approach is used in many fields like education, medicine. Business, social services
and law. Multidisciplinary approach is basically focusing on the correction of victimization
outcomes as they coordinate to seek the better understandings about the victims as their priorities
and needs. This approach requires a lot of coordination between its representative head because

the poor coordination may result in the hazards and lack of coordination may occur due to
communication lacking between the teams, conflicting recommendations, inadequate and
fragmented services etc.
The interdisciplinary theory has contributed to the integration and disciplinary aspect
which relate to the behavioral theory of the criminals. Crime as science of interdisciplinary
approach incorporates many scientific fields and specialized discipline. Awareness about
psychological, sociological, philosophical and criminal justice as the essential parts of
criminology and it uses all the provided knowledge of science. Crimes are already the essential
blocks of sciences and criminology which represents the entire usage of awareness while
implementing it in its own method using scientific researches. This approach further gets the
perspectives together and not the competition which shows either one is right.
The disciplines of the interdisciplinary approach are borrowed from other disciplines
which can be used in different ways so there is a danger of inadequate conceptual frameworks
for analyzing organized crimes, there emerged the need and developments of the
multidisciplinary approach which focused on using different techniques together and achieving
faster and quicker justice for a wrong done, a crime committed or been victimized of any crime.
Finally it can be concluded that though there are many approaches which can be helpful
in resolving the criminal cases but multidisciplinary approach is the best one among them so it
can be best addressed from multidisciplinary approach.
