1. INTRODUCTION
Multimedia can be defined as various types of computer applications that helps people to
interact, communicate and share information easily. Large organisations use this technology to
conduct training programs, implement attractive graphics on their websites and maintain their
web pages. It has facilitated individuals to be in touch with each other. In this technology texts,
graphics and animations are used to supply information to the users (Jones, 2013).
In this project report various topics are discussed that are explanation, examples,
advantages and disadvantages of multimedia delivery platform and background, application and
positive impact of social media applications.
Explanation of multimedia delivery platform
Multimedia delivery platforms: These are the that helps to deliver all the multimedia
programs to the users. Following are the types of such platforms:
 Mobile device: It is a device which can be hold and operated in hand by a user. It has
various features such as data storage, easy processing, good display facilities and
involvement of latest technology. In other words, it can be defined as handheld
computers. It is an electronic device which can be moved from one place to another
easily.
 Web browser: It is a software application to gather information on world wide web. In
web browsers every page, video and image is defined as a URL. It allows the uses to
access, locate web pages. Now a days web browsers are fully functioned and it can easily
display HTML web pages and other applications (Koskinen, 2017).
 Information kiosk: It is used to access right data from hundreds of applications.
Information kiosk is self service technology that can help an organisation to meet demand
of large public. It provides accurate substance in optically pleasing manner.
 CD/ DVD: These are mainly used used to store data, movies and other type of videos.
To access DVD or CD in a personal computer the user must have a software and a ROM
drive.

CD/ DVD:
 These are used by individuals and companies to keep data in tangible form. DVD/ CDs are used by software companies to sale their software.

 It is very important as it can change the way of communication by providing easy and
fast way for the same.
 It is vital to be informed.
Web browser:
 It is important to access and used web sites.
 It helps to surf information on internet.
Information kiosk:
 Helps to improve efficiency of a business by reducing work load.
 It enhances customer service by providing them unique experience.
CD/ DVD:
 These are important for those companies who keep their data in concrete form.
 Data stored in CD/ DVD can be easily access through laptops and personal computer.

4. Example and background of social media Application
Example of social media application: The best example of social media is Facebook
which is used by every individual now a day to be in contact with their friends and family. It
helps people to communicate easily with other users all around the world. It also provides a
group feature in which a user can communicate with a group of interest. People may like pages
of various celebrities and add friends from any corner of world.
Background of Facebook: Primary colour for Facebook is blue as the owner of this
website is red green colour blind who is Mark Zukerburg. A combination platform based Hbase
is used by face to store data crosswise apportioned machines. A new open sourced programming
language which is Hack has been announced by Facebook in year 2014. Momentum platform is
used to deliver end number of emails. Every registered user gets personal profile of Facebook
that shows their posts and content to other users (Background of Facebook. 2018). A new feature
of gender setting was introduced by face in year 2014. Option of news feed was added in year
2006 that appears on every user's homepage.
5. Positive impact of social media applications
Positive impacts of Facebook:
 To the user: It is a place where users can practice empathy and have a real impact on
their friend circle. It has provided a good platform to the shy children to get interacted
with world. It motivates individuals to enhance their self-identity by posting photos,
getting likes and comments. Various users can get information of their favourite
celebrities, role models and ideals to change their attitude.
 To the society: It has helped the society to be in touch with friends and family and to
keep information of their standard of living. It has increased the possibility of making
new friends and meeting them to know each other (Feng, Siu & Zhang, 2013). This can
lead to a great friendship and a good bond for a long period. Most of the people find it
easy to get interact with unknown persons easily as compare to known. It helps to be
social and communicate with various people. There are various users of Facebook

allaround of world and they share information through chatting and posts. Youth of the
society is mainly affected by Facebook and most of the users on the site are young. It also
helps in sharing study material; students can share data regarding school work.
 To the nation: It has changed the way of communication as it is a site which is used all
around the world. It can help to interact with old friends whether they are in other nation
of in same nation (Ohm, J. 2012). Facebook have affected the way in which social life is
shared, because every person is now addicted to this site and posting pictures to share the
life socially. It has helped to modify the way to consume content as important content has
been posted by users on Facebook. It has changed the view of people regarding politics as
Facebook provide all the latest information regarding any type of social issue and
activity.
CONCLUSION
From the above project report it has been analysed that multimedia technology is very
useful for the world as it can help communicate friends and family easily, store more and more
data, gather valuable information and access different types of web sites. It is important for every
individual to have knowledge of multimedia technology as it can reduce complexity in work.
Social media like Facebook is used by end number of people all around the world as it helps to
be in touch with various persons.
