Multimedia is defined as the combination of visuals, text, sound and animation in order to
engage students and transfer knowledge to them. It is the method that include power point
presentation which is generally created by teacher so that the student can get better knowledge of
the topic. It also uses commercial software like multimedia encyclopedias for referencing (Clark
& Mayer, 2016). There are many examples of the using multimedia in the classroom. Some of
them are mentioned below.
Students uses concept mapping software which provides the concept of motivation in
order to enhance the brain thinking capability.
A very small group of students introducing a digital movie in order to demonstrate a
specific procedure.
A website which helps to display students artwork using digital platform.
Student can easily scan their hands and transfer those images into PowerPoint
presentation about using fingerprints.
There are huge number of benefits of using multimedia in the classroom. Some of the
benefits are listed down.
It helps to develop a community of learners with the help of digital ice-breaker activities
because these activities teds to offer fun and easy ways to know one other and provide a platform
for creativity. It is a tool which is used by the students to record a video and upload their video
on a webpage.
The use of multimedia helps students to visualize new videos and programs that are available
online and stay updated about the events that happens in other country. They can also compare
their country values and norms with other country by addressing many questions (Lachs, 2013).
Students can view many concepts using static multimedia. A software named “Screen steps”
is widely used these days which helps them to develop visual handouts. Many colleges also aims
at using Jing software which helps to record a video or take a screenshot and prepare a video
tutorial. This software is used by teachers that provide them a great platform to enhance their
skills and send it to students.

Multimedia helps to encourage students by providing feedback with supportive tools where
students and teacher can communicate with each other and pass their comments. After the
completion of the assignments, a feedback option is provided which is generally filled by the
teacher and read by students.
Students can easily subscribe to the blogs and later transfer them to their mobile phones.
They also uses Twitter aggregator named Tweet deck which helps them to remain on the top to
receive news announcements. Multimedia helps to provide easy access to information and keep
updated about the latest technology (Glazer, 2017).
Thus, it can be concluded that multimedia plays a crucial role in the classroom and in the life
of a student and teacher. It helps to access all the information within a quick access and one can
also easily align with the instructional goals, plan something for long term and learn how to
document any particular activities with the help of eLearning. Nevertheless, multimedia enables
students to showcase their portfolio and present themselves through Audio and video
presentations (Schroeder, 2012).
