Introduction
The public private partnership in the infrastructure can improve the development of
the project. Apart from that the capital can be gathered in an easy way through this kind of
partnership. In this context, of private-public partnership is the construction of Mumbai
Metro project. In this paper, the demand of the project and the benefits of the project will be
discussed. Apart from that the impact of the metro project in the environment and the society
will be evaluated through the discussion. At the end the scope for the improvement of the
project will be presented along with the lessons learnt from the project. The conclusion is
drawn from the facts presented in the discussion.
Discussion
Mumbai metro development project is the example of pubic private partnership in the
infrastructure project. The estimated time period for the project is 15 years. There are
different lines of Mumbai metro. Line 1 of Mumbai Metro system will be operated by Metro
One Operation Private Limited. This company is a joint venture between RATP Dev
Transdev Asia and Reliance Infrastructure. On the other hand line 2,4,6,7 are under the
control of MMRDA. Line 3 will be built by Mumbai Metro Corporation Limited. It has been
seen that there are involvement of the many stakeholders and the partners for the
development of the whole project.

The development of the metro in Mumbai will help to improvement of the public
transport in this metropolitan city. Apart from that the use of both the railway and metro will

development of the project. This also includes the government organization. Apart from that
the common people are also included in the stakeholder list As there are 7 organizations
bagged the Metro rail project, it has become easier for the Government of Maharashtra to
collect the required capital for the investment. Apart from that with the increasing number of
transports the common people can avail the flexibility of the system.
The demand from the project requires large amount of capital. The investment of the
7 companies in the organization have made it possible to manage the large capital investment.
Impact and society and environment
The development of the Mumbai Metro railway project has certain impacts on the
society and environment. The society will be benefitted as it will help to deliver the better
transportation service. On the other hand, the people can visit the distance places in a short
period of time. Apart from that one of the biggest problem people face during the mega block
of the railway. The railway service get delayed due to this track maintenance initiatives.
During the mega block, the use of metro rail can become a convenient option for the people.
On the other hand the development of the Mumbai metro can have the negative
impact on the environment. During the development process, the consumption of the energy
will be high. This will eventually increase the carbon footprint during the process. Apart from
that during the running of the metro rail large amount of energy will be used for that reason
