AI Summary
This research report investigates the effect of classical and hip-hop music on concentration, mediated by personality traits (introversion/extroversion). It employs both primary (a survey of 100 respondents using convenience sampling and SPSS analysis) and secondary research methods. The literature review cites studies showing music's impact on concentration, with a hypothesis that extroverts prefer hip-hop and introverts prefer classical music. The findings suggest a correlation between music preference and concentration levels, with classical music listeners exhibiting better concentration. However, the study acknowledges limitations due to the controlled environment and suggests further research to explore other influencing factors.

Abstract
The research paper concerned itself if understanding
whether the classical and hip-hop has different
impact on the individuals. The concept is directly
related with the extroversion and introversion. It is
expected that the hip-hop music to some extent is
preferred by the individuals who are more oriented
towards extroversion. In contrary, the individuals
who are introvert prefer classic. However, this result
cannot be asserted to be completely true as the study
of the topic was in the controlled environment and
there can be many factors which might not have been
considered. Apart from that, the researchers have
identified that there are few who introverts who
preferred hip-hop and extroverts preferred classic. In
the subsequent study, it was found that the
individuals who have preferred classical music are
more stable thinker and concentrate quickly on their
tasks in comparison to the individual who involved in
hi-hop music.
Research Topic/Question
Is the negative effect of classical and hip hop music
on concentration mediated by extrovert-introvert?
Literature Review
Researchers (Cockerton, Moore & Norman, 1997;
Halman, Price, and Katsarou, 2002) have found that
many students prefer listen to music while they are
studying. The reason that has been quoted is that
the music helps them in study. Moreover, they
studies have also identified that loud music distracts
the individuals’ concentration level (Halman, Price
& Katsarou, 2002). The extroversion and
introversion refers to the different behavior types
among the individuals and it is hypothesized that
music preference depends on the behavior type.
Moreover, another consideration is that extroverts
prefer loud music such as hip-hop and classical is -
preferred by introverts. These assumptions have
limited ground on theoretical arena. Therefore,
consideration of primary research is preferable to
take the study further.
Methodology
The paper considered primary
as well as secondary research.
The primary research was
concerned with conducting a
survey by distributing
questionnaire to the identified
respondents. The total number
of respondents identified for
the study was 100. The
secondary research was related
to understanding what has
been stated in the studies
conducted by various
researchers. The literature
sources have been studied and
based on that, reasonable
hypotheses have been
developed which were proven
later in through primary
research. The use of
convenience sampling was
preferred due to cost and time
effectiveness. The SPSS was
applied on the results obtained
and hypotheses were analyzed
based on them.
