Good morning friends!!!
Thank you for coming. Today we are celebrating silver jubilee of our music school. I still
remember twenty years ago, we had rented small place to impart music training to the first
students who were highly keen as well as passionate about learning. Today we have branches at
various places. The way I see it the entire credit goes to the people who are involved in making
things happen who have been the inspiration to all of us.
Attention now! (Start the speech by playing music, turning off the lights, dancing a little). We all
listen to the music, its part of our everyday lives. Thus, I have never met anyone who has said
they cannot stand music… and if I ever I would have called them out liars.
Music is a lifestyle. It has been a huge factor to my life. Not only does it serve as one of the
biggest influence to the world but it has defined us a human beings.
Personally music has molded me to be the kind of person am today and the kind of individual I
strive to be in the future. It gives strength which has enabled me to push forward and attain goals.
More often some do not where music is all about. It is a form of the art as well as the cultural
activity (Mackley-Crump, 2015). It is a way of living to many individuals, they breathe music
and they live the music (London, 2017). It is the lifestyle since they breathe it at every moment
that passes and needless to mention they could sacrifice anything to attain the pinnacles of the
success.
Some of the common elements to music are rhythm, dynamic as well as the pitch.
Music has had a crucial part to play in the Hindu culture and the mythology (Ulusoy, 2016).
Example Lord Krishna, who was the 8th incarnation to the lord Vishnu has been known as the

Murliwala meaning the flute possessor, Deity Naarad always carried the Taanpura which was a
long necked plucked instrument that had a string (London, 2017). This individual would always
play it to entice Lord Vishnu. This instrument was regarded as a symbol of peace and the
harmony.
Music has been one of the most precious gift to which was bestowed by God to the mankind;
through it individuals can enjoy their leisure time and at the same time alleviate all of their
burdens of life (Burkholder and Grout, 2014). According to the belief of the Hindu, music has
evolved significantly from the single note and the seven octaves such as Saregama which is the
root to the ragas or the forms of the music.
Music is any form such as the instrumental or the vocal which has enjoyed by everyone. It could
create harmony amongst the living human being, even the plants as well as animals could
understand at the same time enjoy the beat, rhythm as well as harmony which is created by the
musical sounds (Burkholder and Grout, 2014).
Choices of the music at times varies from one person to another some individuals might like the
classical and some may prefer western, some enjoys the film songs and some could be confined
to glazals and the kawaallis (Burkholder and Grout, 2014). Each kind of this music has their own
range of the depth as well as practioners which need to undergo on the rigid training along with
the practices to master on the art. Individuals who are skilled in regards to any kind of the music
form are referred to as the child of god (London, 2017). Music usually complements on one’s life
and it has the capacity to energize individuals to their days of distress.
I have learned that music is the lifestyle since it is equally valuable to every region. Ghazals and
Kawwallis are usually the Muslim form of the music, jazz and pop are usually enjoyed in the

Western culture (London, 2017). To my mind, music can teach individuals to be more
compassionate as well as empathetic to others.
The good thing that is happening to the music it is now travelling across various borders and
many individuals are now accepting each other’s culture and forms of the music with much zeal.
This shows it is becoming our everyday lifestyle (London, 2017).
Many doctors believe that music together with the medication given to the patient it has the
ability to treat people sooner (London, 2017). Music is an art form that has been recognized
widely, accepted and at the same time appreciated globally irrespective of the language barrier. It
is an important part to the civilization and culture.
In my opinion, music has helped many individuals to earn their livelihood, thus, social values
have been attached to it. The history of the music is wide at the same time interesting, even
though the specific origin of the music was not known, but certainly it was introduced to the
human beings long time ago.
In the olden days, music was regarded as a luxury which was enjoyed by the royalties only in the
society (Mackley-Crump, 2015). Some of the civilization practiced the music as a form of the
religious significance and those t people that associated to it were highly respected in society.
Gradually, it started to be recognized from its values and became popular globally. It can be
enjoyed in the instrumental and the vocal forms.
We have often heard people say they cannot live without music. People say a lot of things….
Most of which are far from the truth. Nonetheless, when I say it is impossible to live without the
music, I mean it truly. To be honest, I cannot remember the last time which I never listened to
the music.

Analysis: Music: It's a lifestyle
In this speech it has employed various tools and these tools would be used to analyse the speech.
First part of the speech is on the introduction which uses personal story which sets out the tones
which would be brought in the speech. There is introduction of the greeting and how far the
music has come to present (David, 2014).. There has been use of the personal story to make the
idea of the music and how it has come from. It sets out stage for the audiences to reflect on how
far they have come to show the journey of transformation has not been easy to make music what
it is today. This is the use of the Brookfield’s language trick of utilizing the personal story to set
the stage for the speech.
Through the use of such narrative communication is derived to the audiences on the ideas in
which the speech will talk about which enables them to have an idea and develop interest on this
subject (Zori, Nosek and Musil, 2010). In this introduction, there was music that has been
played, lights turned off which set the stage and draws the curiosity of the audience towards the
subject (Nardi, 2017). There is also creation of the personal relationship which would be
established between the speaker and the audiences.
To introduce on a given subject to the audience you need to draw their attention through
identifying the type of audience you are dealing with, so that to distinguish on the ideas you will
utilize to capture on their attention and enable them to understand (Müller and Turner, 2010).
This idea opens up on the floor which then examine on the concept on the second paragraph on
what music is all about.
In this speech it has utilized argumentative moves. These are some words and expressions which
are used in the argumentative discussions and these texts usually indicate the type of the

argument move which has been made (Jackson, 2003). There has been used of word such as in
my opinion, to my mind, the way I see it, thus or therefore others are for example. These words
usually introduce a standpoint and the use of because which is an argumentation. These words
and expressions which refer to the argumentative moves such as putting forward a given
standpoint as argumentative indicators (Morris, 2016). The use of these argumentative indicators
shows that there has been a sign of a given argumentative move which has been in progress, but
they do not constitute to the decisive pointer. The word therefore, has been used as the filler and
it is next to argumentation. The word because has introduced an explanation. Depending on this
context, the usage of the word has been sufficient reason to consider on the standpoint which has
been introduced.
In this speech it has also used the Bloom Taxonomy critical thinking tools. The text in the speech
can be classified into three hierarchical models which are used to classify the learning materials.
In this speech it has combined different parts to make it a new whole (Morris, 2016). There are
different paragraph that have ideas to how music is a lifestyle these paragraph are connecting to
each other. It is easy to evaluate on the speech (Morris, 2016). One can easily judge on the value
of the ideas which are presented and can analyze on each aspect which has been discussed. The
ideas have been broken down into various parts such as the paragraph so that each idea can be
presented on their own (Morris, 2016). There has application of the facts, rules and the concepts
on to these ideas which are addressed in regards to this topic discussed. Through the speech it is
much easy to understand on the speech since comprehending on the facts which are raised are
easy. The language used is simple to be understood by different levels of the learners from the

The speech has also utilized repetition a lot. A word such as music has been the key word which
has been used in the speech mostly. It is used more often to give the audience a grasp to the key
claims that music its lifestyle…. Such as “music will remain to be the greatest form…. Music has
had a crucial part to play.” This has been combined to the trick to assume the voice of many
individuals which has been used in the last paragraph of the speech. Majority of the concepts
have been discussed in third person all throughout the speech, apart from few places. The
speaker to this speech has assumed the audiences share the same view as to what music is and
assumed that music is loved by all, since it is a universal aspect to the mankind.
In conclusion, there has been use of the Grice’s 4 Conversational maxims criteria. These aspect
stands for the quantity, quality, relation and the manner. On the aspect of quantity this speech is
long and the content in the speech do follow a logical flow which is essential when delivering a
lot of ideas to the audience (Mackley-Crump, 2015). On the second aspect is on the quality, in
this speech its aims is to persuade the audience that music is the lifestyle. The authors’ intention
is to make the audience think like he does in regards to this topic. On the aspect of the relation
the information targets all the individuals who have interest in the music especially to the
students who have the passion to do music (Ramazani and Jergeas, 2015). On the last aspect is
on the manner of the delivery. This speech has been delivered in a manner where there has been
change in the tone at one point or another throughout the speech to effectively deliver on the
