Introduction
The “My health record” electronic summary is an electronic medical record which is developed
by Commonwealth government of Australia. This service can be used in any part of Australia.
This service is launched to benefit both patients as well as the doctor. The details can be inserted
by individual and individual select that can access the records. The My health record electronic
summary can be used by the doctor to track the patient medical details and provide better
treatment and also saves the time of a doctor. The visual plan of “My health record” will be
made which will discuss problems, capabilities, and benefits of “My health record” electronic
summary.
Problems
‘My Health Record’ faced some problems that are as follows:
Financial related issues:
Day-by-day the cost of medicines, hospital charge is increasing day by day. The treatment cost is
increasing gradually day by day. And it is not feasible for poor persons to get good treatment
because of the high cost. The cost of doctor’s appointment is very high that it is out of reach for
poor people.
Security issues:
My health record faces security issues to maintain data of patients. Security issues like who can
access the database, who can edit the database. These security issues are creating a problem to
maintain the “My health record” database (Wang, Zhang &Vimalachandran, 2015).
Lack of awareness
As My health record is becoming popular in Australia but till yet it is not reached to every person
living in Australia. It is because of lack of awareness of “My health record” as it is in the early
stage not everyone is aware of it.
Rules & Regulations
To provide the authenticity to “My health record” electronic summary is a major task. To set the
rules that can access the electronic summary, who can edit the electronic summary? A sit will be
developed by the government of Australia the authenticity issue will be resolved in future.

The individual set permissions that that can access the record of an individual. An individual can
give permission to doctors, hospitals, and another medical health provider. The doctor can access
the record of an individual and check the medical history of the patient and give treatment to the
individual.
Help doctors
The doctors, hospitals and another medical health provider can see patient medical history using
“My health record”. They can check the patient information from the electronic summary of “My
health record”. When doctor will provide treatment to the patient they can use the electronic
summary at that time.
Improve the quality of patient care
My health record electronic summary includes all the important information of the patient. This
electronic summary can be used to see the patient medical history. Before this electronic
summary there was lack of information of a patient which results to decrease in quality of
treatment but after using “My health record” electronic summary the complete information of the
patient is recorded which helps in quality treatment (Florman, 2014).
