INTRODUCTION
Healthcare systems are quite effective to share information in the best possible way. The
present report deals with producing a vision statement of My Health Record which is online
summary information of patients maintained by healthcare. The clinical documents are uploaded
by the patients so that it can be accessed by doctors. Problems, benefits and capabilities are
provided in this report related with this system.
1. Producing a vision statement considering problems, capabilities and benefits
My Health Record is an initiative to reduce health related issues of Australians so that
they may live healthy life. The vision statement of My Health Record is as follows-
Problems
“Vision of My health Record is to improve healthcare standards and efficiency of service
user's care”. This is essential so that patients may live healthy life. The information added till
date is 1.7 million clinical documents with reference to 4.6 million people having health record.
It is required that more information must be collected. However, the problem associated with this
is that providers of services are not well-equipped with the resources despite huge investment on
the project (Vimalananda and et.al, 2018).
Another problem with this online summary information is that it requires much literacy
of the people so that they may use it in large numbers and clinical documents may be uploaded in
large quantum. It is required that people should have knowledge of using e-health literacy,
optimum use of internet and computers and lack of people towards technology advancement
needs to be enhanced so that deficiency can be totally removed. Another problem is that
information on My Health Record need to be easy to read and translated in other regional
languages so that people can easily understand the same.
Capabilities
The capabilities of My Health Record are numerous. This is related to having
transparency about the health of patients in effective way (Entzeridou, Markopoulou and
Mollaki, 2018). Among the capabilities, clinical documents are provided and communication
between healthcare institutions and service users takes on constant basis. Necessary
improvements can be done through interactions. The work gets easier as information of patients

are shared to healthcare institutions electronically. Another capability of this system is that e-
health foundations are important which provides safe and secure exchange of information
between patients and health centres. The safety is provided through issuing unique identification
and encryption so that secure information is exchanged.
National infrastructure is adequate which is another capability of this system. Digitisation
is being used to provide infrastructure to support health in national, state and territorial reforms
so that people can be connected digitally. Moreover, Secure Message Delivery is being used in
accordance with IT (Information Technology) standards with reference to communities such as
Standards Australia, desktop users providing services and message service providers. Apart from
this, e-Medication management is also being used so that medication processes can be
streamlined in effective manner. This process consists of prescribing medicines, adminiterting
and initiating monitoring so that patients may be benefited by healthy results with much ease and
medicines may be available at lower costs (Laver and et.al, 2018).
Benefits
My Health Record provides benefits such as better access to information, safety of
information. The health information is available freely and can be accessed by patients from
anywhere at it is available on the internet. Moreover, doctors can be provided information by the
patients and prescription can be easily provided. The health related information is secured with
various measures and in the case of emergency, service providers can easily provide prescription
if patients have any issues related to health such as allergies, reactions and can take advice from
the doctors instantly.
Another benefit of My Health Record system is that it is way convenient as patients need
to worry out health history such as medicines earlier prescribed, various clinical tests and chronic
situations held in past related to health (Benefits of having a My Health Record, 2018 ). This is
because the same is referred to children's history in effective way. Thus, it is much convenient to
patients in the best possible way. The information gathered such as name, date of birth and any
medical records since two years. This is required so that medical history can be garnered about
the patients. But these all information remains private only and confidential information is
maintained in effectual way.
