Introduction
Every organization must follow a Code of Ethics, that dictate its operations and functions
as well as how should it be treating and behaving with its stakeholders. This code must be
conforming to the industry standards and the organization must be sure to keep adhering to them.
Rather than rules, these codes can be considered to be more like general guidelines that suggest
how should the organization function.
Issue of relevance
While the code of ethics serves as a guidebook, it must also be remembered that these
codes have to be relevant to the contemporary market, social and other structures so that they be
the best suited for the purposes they aim to address. The organization has to make sure that their
codes are updated and are best suited for the contemporary times and all the newly developed
ideas on ethics are covered in it.
Napier Environmental Code of Ethics
The code of ethics that is followed by Napier Environmental was written twenty years
ago, and was signed by every employee of the company. The current report looks into whether
these codes are still relevant and if not, then why so as well as what should be changed to keep it
updated.
The company deals in natural products, which makes up for all the more reasons for it to
adhere to the ethical guidelines. The ethical guidelines serve some basic purposes and dictates
that the company should: do what is right, respect the rights of others, obey the laws, maintaining
the integrity and confidentiality of information and to avoid conflict of interests. These codes are
applicable to every manager, employee and officers of the company, regardless of their position

Environmental Technologies Inc.
The ethical code of the company has clearly defined notions about right and wrong and
aims to instill a sense of own judgment in every person of the organization, so that they can
themselves analyze situations while also adhering to the codes of the company. The code also
rejects any form of discrimination against any employee or manager of the company, irrespective
of their position. The company also recognizes the rights of all of their employees, suppliers,
customers as well as the environmental rights. Napier is strict about the fact and recognizes that
they have some environmental obligations and those must be fulfilled because they must give
something back to the planet in return of all the privileges they are being provided by nature.
Napier believes in a transparent mode of operations that would be abiding by the law and
every financial transaction is devoid of any form of corruption. The records of the company are
perfectly maintained for any kind of future references as well as the accounts. Every information
within the company is strictly maintained with a general aim to preserve the confidentiality of
those.
No forms of conflicting interest within the company is tolerated. No employee, no matter
their position is allowed to abuse their authority within the company to gain any sort of extra
advantage. The company also has clear directions about their responsibilities to the community
and how should those be met.
Necessary changes
The ethical codes of the company look to be clearly guided and revolves around a central
obligation of the company to operate within the law, helping the community and adhering to

their environmental responsibilities. These guidelines are well defined and are aimed towards
creating a better world that also abides by the basic human rights and requirements. While these
guidelines were indeed written down twenty years before, they are still relevant and successfully
address issues that are prevalent even in the markets and industries today. However, new forms
of operations and functions have developed in past decades and companies also need to follow
these industry requirements. One of the most important developments in the recent times has
been the advent of the internet. This has radically changed the world as was known before.
Napier has to recognize and maintain that their codes also addresses this issue. They have
ventured into the virtual world and thus, the necessity to comply with the rules and regulations of
the online world has also become paramount. This is a mild modification that has to be made and
can easily be mitigated with the current infrastructure and resources of the company. The
amendments to the company’s code of ethics should be done as soon as possible, so that the
company can continue operating in the industry without any hindrance or drawbacks.
