1MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH
Be Chivalrous. Defend and Protect Women and Children. Fight for what is
Right.
Chivalry is on the decline today. There are very few men who actually respect
women, children and the elderly unless they are one of their own. Chivalrous behavior can
rarely be witnessed in public, in today’s day and age. Violence against girls and womenfolk
is becoming increasingly commonplace and compassion for the disabled is also shamefully
negligible in present day society. If you are a person with integrity and have strong moral
values, you should avoid acquiescing to the boorish behavior and culture of aggression that is
so prevalent nowadays. You need to learn to stand up for your beliefs, for everything that you
hold dear, and show the world that you are not a coward, that you are not afraid to make the
vulnerable and the weak feel safe and protected when they need to feel so. As members of the
National Association of Seadogs, we are committed to the ideal of chivalry. Like the Knights
of the Middle Ages, we strongly believe in fighting hard against any violence or bad behavior
that directed against women and their dependent children (Nnam 2014). When you are one of
us, you need to realize that chivalry is of the utmost importance, that women are always to be
treated with respect and that violence is unacceptable when it is carried out against young
girls, elderly women and children, who are more often than not, physically inferior to the
perpetrators of violence.
Be a Comrade. Stand up for the Poor and Combat Elitism
The National Association of Seadogs focuses greatly on the ideals of comradeship and
chivalry to emerge as voices of the oppressed and for those who are not adequately
represented in society (Owonikoko and Ifukor 2016). As a collective of strong, committed
and privileged individuals, we believe in coming together to fight elitism and when you

belong to our fraternity your goal becomes synonymous with our war against classism
(Abang 2014). To be our comrade and speak out for the oppressed you learn to defy the
stereotypical frameworks that are responsible for much of the ills that we witness in society
today. Convention is something that you can easily equate with problems like stagnation,
rigidity, conservatism and even complacency at some level. As our comrade you need to
learn to be unconventional and not allow regressive societal standards and protocols to come
in your way when fulfilling our common goal of defending the rights of the under privileged
and the socially obscure. You cannot afford to ponder over resolving societal ills and abuses
as a comrade in the National Association of Seadogs (Ute 2015). As our comrade, you must
also take immediate action and combat injustice when you see it taking place before your
very eyes or when you hear about it having occurred somewhere. Side by side we must act
actively or passively against aggressors as soon as we behold them to successfully prevent
them from the violent acts that they are otherwise likely to inflict on vulnerable sections of
the population.
