The Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) is a documentation based on
providing instructions to the logistics team based on manual handling
of packages. The SOP is based on the basic principles that would be set
out by the National Training Dashboard (NTD) based within the banner
of National Camper Trailers (NCT). During the processes of work, the

the task based on handling of loads either on a manual basis or with
mechanical means. This SOP would lay down several kind of measures.

activities that would be followed as per the standards supported by the
industry. This SOP would also put focus on the ways in which the
different parcels would be packaged as per certain pre-defined norms.
The SOP also discusses about the safe form of working practices that
would be needed to be assessed.
Managing Manual Handling Risk

packages would be assessed based on employing certain steps. These
include:

Identification of improvements that would be implemented
Performing of review based on improvements and effectiveness

Some of the processes that must be used for manual handling of goods
are:
Establishing of firm footing – This process would be able to
ensure the best kind of balance and stable base for lifting of
packages.
Preparing for lifting – The posture of the body should be bent
backward based on a perpendicular position to the ground.
Bending on knees – The person should lower down by their legs in
a straight position by lowering their legs.
5. RECEIPTING INTO STOCK
The warehousing department has the primary responsibility to handle
each of the packages by packaging them properly and dispatching them
to the end customers.
6. SAFE WORK PRACTICES
There should be a high form of safe practices that should be ensured
within the workplace. The management should take reasonable steps
for ensuring that materials and goods should be stored, stacked and
kept securely. The safe work practices would involve adequate training
of employees, comprehensive planning and adequate supervision.
7. Workplace Organisation
Some examples of signage and documentation are:
The signage would be able to provide information based on
a signboard, colour, verbal communication and acoustic
signal.
The Safety Health and Welfare at Work Regulations 2007
would apply to safety signs.
Text must be included within the safety signboards.
Employees should be taught about the importance of
health and safety procedures within the workplace.
The procedures should be easily taught to the workers.
There should also be a proper form of survey conducted
from the employees about the impacts made by the safety

8. REPORTING
Warehouse information and document management would be able to
speed the process of retrieval and access to paper based documents. The
processes of reporting and documentation required to be implemented
could be made possible with the impact of CRM (Customer Relationship
Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems. These
kind of systems would be able to monitor compliance to the P&P.
9. Review
Based on recording of different processes and documentation, it
could be discussed that each of the tracking of movements should
be done as per proper compliance standards. This could be
managed based on the implication of a record management
software. Different records would be collected, stored, reviewed and
documented properly. This would ensure a proper review of records
and providing recommendations on solving of any issues.
