INTRODUCTION
Business Environment is termed as the comprehensive term which consists of various
factors such as internal and external factors which influence the main objectives of the
organization. The business environment in the company covers the economic, political,
institutional, legal and technological aspect which contributes towards the implementation and
development of the business. This report will be based on providing the contrasting characters
between two organizations namely Nationwide and Sainsbury’s. The study will develop a clear
understanding about Three different types of organizations such as private, public and social
enterprise. Nationwide company will be described in order to make understanding about social
enterprises Sainsbury's missions and visions are also described which is Public Limited company
and Linpac company which is a Private organization of UK. It will also explore various
stakeholders Map analysis within the financial as well as retail organizations.
Moreover, This assignment will provides the SWOT analysis of Nationwide as compared
to Sainsbury’s in order to understand the impact threats and weaknesses of the company in two
different sectors.
Nationwide
Nationwide Mutual Insurance company is a group of large US insurance company
situated at UK.
Mission- The mission of the Nationwide is to improve the quality of life among society.
Vision- This company focus on providing the value to the customers and allows them to provide
the quality based products and services.
Goals- The main goals of the Nationwide organization is to provide up-to-date science based
information adopting higher standards of accountability in order to offer the consultation services
(Business environment Article, 2018).
Products or services- This organization offers a variety of services for individuals in fulfilling
the development disabilities and mental health problems (Hamilton and Webster, 2018). This
institution also offers consultation services to the people. Along with this, Nationwide company
offers spectrum to take control of the own lives.
SWOT
Strengths: Nationwide gains the good return on capital expenditure which is incurred
by generating new revenue streams. Also, one of the strongest point is skilled workforce which

result in high motivation among employees. The company has good distribution channel which
helps in increasing the customer satisfaction and increased sales.
Weaknesses: Lack of investment in research and development is one of the great
weakness of Nationwide (Calabrese, Iandolo and Sarno, 2018). This company have to spend
more in training and development as compared to other industries. Weak marketing of the
products is a major weak point of the organization.
Opportunities: Online customer approach, Marketing development, Government green
drive and market development are the major opportunities for the company.
Threats: currency fluctuations, technological advancement and changing buying
behaviour of the consumer is a great threat to the organization.
Sainsbury’s
This is the third largest chain of supermarket in UK and this organization is the public
private Limited company.
Mission- To be the consumer's first choice to consume food.
Vision- The vision of the Sainsbury’s is to become most trusted retailer among large number of
customers.
Goals- The main purpose of the Sainsbury's is to provide great food at fair prices.
Offered products and services- This company offers variety of food products at fair prices.
SWOT
Strengths: The quality of the products, fair prices and customer satisfaction are the main
strengths of the organization (You, Dal Bianco, Lin and Amankwah-Amoah, 2019). Multi
channel restructuring of the goods and services is a strengths to the orgaization.
Weaknesses: Limited presence in the global market, technical advancement and low media spend
are the weaknesses of the organization which restricts the company to gain the growth.
Opportunities: There are many opportunities in terms of globalisation, reduced cost of
production which attracts large number of customers. Digital growth within the company and
disposable income are also major opportunities.
Threats: Competition in the market, substitute products offered by competitive companies are the
major threats to the Sainsbury's.

The main purpose and mission of the Nationwide is just different from the Sainsbury's
company as the nature of both the organization differ from each other (Cepel, Stasiukynas and
Dvorsky, 2018). One of the major comparison between both the organization is that, Sainsbury's
aimed at generating higher profitability whereas the Nationwide performs the business
operations for the welfare of the society. although, Nationwide is the financial enterprise which
deals with the insurance services. On the other hand Sainsburry is the public company which
deals with the variety of retailing products such as food , grocery items etc.
Stakeholders
Stakeholders are the people who are involved in operations and activities of the business.
They includes creditors directors, employees, government agencies suppliers etc (Das and
Kundu, 2018). The stakeholder analysis map is the process of accessing the system and potential
changes that help in accessing the interest of stakeholders in accessing in order to address the
project plan, policy or action.
Stakeholders within Nationwide
There are various different types of stakeholders within the Nationwide insurance
company such stakeholders are Directors, Employees, community etc (Quazi and Tandon, 2018).
the Directors takes the keen interest in making the strategies to fulfil the needs of the people.
They influence the strategic decisions of the company. Community play a very important role in
Nationwide company as all the business operations of the Nationwide are aimed at welfare of the
society. They influence the image and reputation of the company as it is social welfare
enterprise.
Stakeholders within Sainsbury’s
There are various different types of Stakeholders within the Sainsburry such as
customers, employees, managers, suppliers, financiers etc. The Stakeholders of the company
influence the strategic decisions and main objectives of the firm. Employees are the one who are
interested in the operations and activities of the business and they directly influence the
productivity and profitability of the company (Ayios, 2018). Customers are another
Stakeholders who influence the sales and earnings of the company as they have interest in the
consumption of goods and services. Their tastes and preferences may effects the company to
change the product features. Another important stakeholder are suppliers who takes interest in

providing the raw material to the organization in exchange with the money. And the quality of
the raw material supplied lead to the direct impact on the quality of the final products.
CONCLUSION
From the above study, it an be concluded that different companies operate the business
on the basis of varied aims and objectives. All the company may differ in mission vision and
goals. This report has been provided to make a clear understanding about the contrasting features
of Financial company and Retailer company of UK. Various different kinds of stakeholders are
also explored here.
