AI Summary
This research proposal investigates the negative effects of social interaction on psychological well-being. It begins by outlining the importance of the topic, supported by recent articles highlighting a gap in the literature concerning the impact of social media interactions on mental health. The proposal examines theories such as social media engagement theory, social interactionist theory, and interaction theory to understand the undesirable effects. The aim is to identify the negative effects of social media and technology on human psychology, and to explore potential mitigation strategies. The proposal includes two hypotheses: one suggesting a lack of harmful effects, and the other positing undesirable properties of social media on psychological well-being. The expected outcome is to discover the impact of public media interactions on human psychology, addressing gaps in previous research and clarifying the influence of human perspectives on these interactions. The proposal references several key sources to support its arguments and research design.

WELL BEING
1. Briefly outline your area/topic and its importance by presenting at least TWO recent
articles in the field. These articles must have been publishing within the last ten years. Use
these articles to highlight a ‘gap' in the literature. A ‘gap' in the literature is an area which
is yet to be explored.
As it has been identified, social interactions and its further enhancement forms the building
blocks for the society and it has been reported to have several positive impacts on the psychology
of the people as well (Reis et al., 2018). There have been several established theories on the
social interactions between people and this have also been recognized to have several theories on
the emphasized social media interactions as well (Sherif, 2017).
According to the author Bayer et al. (2016), scientists have been extremely intrigued in
identifying the cause behind both the constructive and undesirable impact of the social media
interactions and after rigorous discussion, they have found that these were related to the
emotional experiences that people have self-described. This is the primary reason that the
perception of social media interaction and their effect to the people are such different in nature.
The purpose of social media interaction although is not susceptible to the type of the information
exchange, so they might not have a control over the positive or undesirable impact of the
exchange of information. Therefore, it is required to find out how is it feasible for the analysis of
the effect on the human psychology based on the information shared. The research found out
about the harmful impacts of the public media interactions and this is an area that is required to
be explored that on what factors the social media interactions causes negative effect on the
human psychology.
According to the author Smith-Lovin and Heise (2016), there have been people who have
experienced a huge amount of the positive emotion and information exchange and there also

WELL BEING
have been situations where there also have been extreme negative emotional exchanges as well.
However, the researchers have also found that this is mostly due to varied perceptions of viewing
a situation from the individual perspectives. The varied perceptions and a pile load of
conclusions that emerge from the researchers focus mostly on the harmful impression of the
social media interactions, be it in any form. The unsupportive social broadcasting interactions
have such bad impression on the people that the effect has the likelihood of imposing the feeling
of hurt, hatred, sadness, isolation, unpleasantness and rejection on the human psychology.
The literature that have been so far published about the effects of social media
interactions and their consequence on the human thinking, did not clarify the analysis of the
impact of the sharing of information that occurs while a social media interaction is going on
(Argyle, 2017). Including this, the researchers also fall short of the ideas that could
accommodate the types of social media interactions along with the perceptions that are built
around the types of people engaged within a conversation or the impact of the medium through
with the information is being shared.
2. What are the phenomenon/theories you will be examining?
There are different categories of theories which are associated with the social media
interactions which might have an undesirable on human psychology. Social media engagement
theory states about the how users of the social media platforms manages the harmful effects of
the social media platforms.
Based on the researches of modern psychology it can be said that communal media
communications are having an undesirable effect on human psychology. However, as stated by
Oberst et al. (2017), social interactionist theory is very much significant to understand that
conflict interest is the major reason behind the most of the undesirable influence of the social

WELL BEING
media interactions. On the other hand as instructed by Argyle (2017), interaction theory can be
very much useful to study the changes in behavior of the users of social media. The entire
interaction procedure of the social media users are affected as a result of the social interaction.
This theory also helps in identifying that depression, cyber bullying and unrealistic expectations
are the prime areas of concern regarding the negative impact of the social media on the human
psychology. However, as discussed by Sherif (2017), interpersonal interaction of the social
media users does not gets affected by social interaction procedure. The discussions of this paper
helps in understanding that symbolic interactionism can be very much useful to address the
negative impression of the social media connections.
3. What is the aim of your proposal?
The aim of the investigation is to find the undesirable effects of the public media
interactions over technology and media support that the world is having right now and its
negative effects leading on to the human psychology. The reasons behind this needs to be figured
out so that the mitigation of the issues can also be achieved.
4. What are your hypotheses?
According to the proposal there are two hypothesis are there. First hypothesis is the
Social media connections do not have any harmful effect on the human psychology. Another
hypothesis is the Social media relations do have undesirable properties on the human
psychology. Therefore, the IV or the Independent Variable here is the Social Media Interactions,
where on the other hand, the DV or the Dependent Variable here is the Human Psychology.

5. What do you expect to find?
The expected outcomes that the research would probably have would be the overall
impact on the gap that has been identified from the literature reviews, to discover if there is any
effect of the public media interactions on the human psychology. This is to find what the
previous conduction of the researches could not identify, even after being one of the most
influencing factors on the human psychology as well. The human perspectives affecting the
interactions and affecting the human psychology would also be clarified.
