Journal 1
The major area wherein I had to implement the negotiation skills refer to the situations of
maintaining a proper communication with my peer group. The proper communication among the
peer group has helped me learn the various ways in which individuals should be approached and
communicated with in order to convince them of the issues that are highlighted in several
situations. One such situation involved the completion of a project that we were assigned during
our high school days. The activity involved the enactment of a play that was composed by an
Elizabethan era. The involvement of the several people within the activity had led to the
requirement of the negotiation skills on the part of the participants as well. The major negotiation
skills that were required in this situation refers to the discussion among the participants regarding
the roles that they would be assigned in the play as well as the integration among the participants
of the play. The proper negotiation abilities had helped me in understanding the importance of
the effective communication among the participants thereby leading to the proper execution of
the play.
Journal 2
The second incident that required me to implement the negotiation activities highlighted
the skill of listening that is helpful in the understanding of the viewpoints that are demonstrated
by the other members of the team. The skill of listening to the opinions and the viewpoints of the
other members of the team has helped me in the understanding of the views and the opinions as
have been presented by the concerned team members. The skill of listening to the viewpoints of
the other members of the team would help me in viewing the scenario from their point of view as
well. I had faced a similar situation during my study at the college. In this situation we were
assigned to a group in order to complete a project that involved the contribution of all the

members of the team. The project had to be composed on the basis of an innovative product and
thus in order to decide on the product, we had to group in and discuss on the product that would
form the base of the assignment which required the proper usage of the listening skills.
Journal 3
I had also faced other situations in the due course of my life till date. I had to face
situations wherein I played the role of the negotiator among my friends who had been going
through a bad patch in their lives due to a misunderstanding amongst themselves. In order to help
them overcome the misunderstanding I had to intervene among them and thereafter resolve the
issue as well. The lack of the proper communication among the concerned individuals had led to
the misunderstanding as well as the lack of the proper flow of the information among the
individuals involved in the scenario. The lack of the proper communication as well as the
miscommunication among the concerned individuals tend to have been highlighting the fact that
the lack of the proper negotiation skills on the part of the individuals would result in the failure
of the given projects as well. In the mentioned situation, I had to conduct a meeting of the
concerned friends and then sit down with them to resolve the issues that they had been facing
due to the miscommunication.
Journal 4
I had also faced situations wherein I had to demonstrate the activities of decision-making
in order to help my team gain better grades at the given examination. This had taken place when
we were assigned a group presentation. The assessor had allocated a very short deadline to us
during which we had to turn in the project. Thus, the task had to be distributed evenly amongst
ourselves in order to complete it within the given deadline. The distribution of the tasks required

the demonstration of the required skills for proving the proper leadership for the group members.
In this situation I had undertaken the responsibilities of a leader and helped the proper and equal
distribution of the tasks among the members of the team. This had helped the team in the
understanding of the tasks that had to be completed in order to compose the presentation that was
assigned to us by the professor. The proper understanding of the given requirement and the ways
to meet those in order to compose a proper solution to the given requirement. This in turn would
assist the improvement of the grades as well.
