individual which will be discussed in this report. Skills required and important for an individual
in personal and professional life will be studied in the present report.

Negotiation – Negotiation can be determined as a technique which assists individuals to
settle down the differences among them effectively. It is a procedure in which compromise
and agreement is reached by avoiding the best possible outcomes or their positions. There
are several elements of successful outcomes like seeking mutual benefits and fairness
effectively (Johnson, Gratch and DeVault, 2017). There are various forms of negotiation
which are utilized in various situations such as legal disputes, unfairness and conflicts

people around me at my home or company. I select this skill as due to my observation
regarding increasing level of issues and conflicts at home or organisation. It will assist
people to communicate with each and other as well as find the best possible solution for a
specific dispute or conflict.

competence?
I think negotiation skills are very helpful for me, I have developed these skills by working
with various organisations and people. The colleagues and other employees are satisfied
with my negotiation skills. I take feedbacks from the employees to identify my current
competent regarding negotiation skills.
Can you identify any contradictions?
The contradiction that I faced related to negotiation skills is maintaining a good relationship
with all individuals. There are always two parties involved in a conflict or dispute within a
business, the party who is not satisfied with negotiation made develops a negative image for
me and can think that I am partial in my decisions. It is also difficult to negotiate in various
situations when both the parties are not satisfied with the final decisions made after
negotiation.
How will this skill help me in the future?
Negotiation skills will be very helpful for me in future as I want to grow my career in
Human resource management. For example an HR is responsible for managing and
controlling employees of an organization. Therefore, effective negotiation skills will be

and professional life.
