INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND OF PROJECT
The emergence of globalisation has been very fruitful for the organizations as it allowed them
to transfer not only products and services but also the capital, technology and even labour. This
has resulted in increasing competition and also a lot of economic as well as financial shift
towards emerging economies (Li, 2015). Globalisation has been beneficial in promoting
cooperation and also enhanced economic interdependency across the world and also
developed a sense of cultural awareness.
Since the organizations have expanded into other countries, it has enabled them to manage the
diverse workforce from around the world. Nestlé is one of the leading food organizations that
has almost 135 years of history and operates in almost every country in the world. Rather than
factories, office buildings and even brands, the principal assets considered by Nestlé are its
workforces that work together as a single unifying corporate culture despite being from
different nationalities, religions and ethnic backgrounds (Shetty, 2016).
The human resources policy of Nestlé states that learning is a vital part of the culture of Nestlé
and also includes the guidelines constituting a sound basis for effective as well as efficient HR
management. The driving force of policy is people development and includes principles on the
right of the collective bargain, non-discrimination and also the strict prohibition of harassment
in any form. This policy of Nestlé deals in remuneration, recruitment and training as well as
development (Shafi, 2015).
It is essential to have willing to learn in order to be employed by Nestlé. Individual development
programmes framework is proposed in order to train, guide and coach the employees for their
growth and progression (Khan, 2016). Nestlé believes in giving opportunities to people for life-
long learning and in order to make them confident, autonomous, employable and also open to
a new position within Nestlé. Being a project management trainee a small scale research is
conducted to consider the ways of improving recruitment, selection and training of employees
of Nestlé for meeting international requirements.

recruitment, selection and training of employees of Nestlé for meeting the international
requirements. It focuses on understanding the activities of HR management is affected by the
presence of the organization in different countries. It is observed that difference in culture;
religion and ethnic background affect the HR management activities of organizations including
Nestlé (Prema, 2016).

Included Scope
The nature of the research report is analytical as well as unbiased. It majorly focuses on
identifying the ways to improve the recruitment, selection and training of employees of Nestlé.
Qualitative, as well as quantitative researches, are employed in this research together with
primary and secondary research to order to meet the research aims and objectives (Morschett
et al., 2015). The data collected for reaching to reliable outcome is done with the help of online
questionnaire survey while using focused groups.
Excluded Scope
Any geographical area is not specified in this research. It does not cover the other activities of
HR management of Nestlé apart from recruitment, selection and training. It focuses only on
these activities such as recruitment, selection and training of Nestlé so as to understand its
improvement to meet the international requirement (Cesário and Chambel, 2017). It also does

Cost Objectives
The estimated cost for the research is compared with the actual cost of research by using a
technique such as earned value management (Ahmad Azmy, 2018). The below table defines the
actual and estimated cost of the project:
Particulars Forecasted Amount (in £) Actual Amount (in £)
Wages of Staff £110 £117
Refreshments for staff £55 £68
Stationery supplies and
materials
£70 £76

participants
£100 £150
IT hardware, software
and networks
£290 £299
Other administration
costs
£110 £115
Total £735 £825
Resource Requirements
Human, technical and financial resources are required for accomplishing all the activities of this
small scale research. The guidance and support from staff and experts are to be sought for
collecting and analysing the data through questionnaire survey and tables and charts from Ms-
Excel to meet the research aim and objectives (Welch and Welch, 2018). The quality of the
research project is assured by taking assistance from the supervisor regarding the activities of
the project. Computer and IT software along with networks are some of the technical resources
that have been used for collecting and storing data of the research. Additionally, physical
resources were used for preparing rough notes and proceedings for the research and without
the availability of financial resources; it would be difficult for the researcher to carry out this
small-scale project.

Quality Control
Both qualitative and quantitative research are employed for maintaining the quality of the
research. Qualitative research will be conducted to understand the views and opinions of
employees of Nestlé while quantitative research will be focused on quantifying the employees’
views and opinions. Primary research is undertaken to collect current data to understand the
current international HR scenario. Secondary research will be conducted to gather the data
that forms the base for research (Khan, 2016). The guidance and support will be asked from the
project supervisor in order to carry out project activities in an efficient manner and also address
any issue if arises.
Risk Management
One of the major risks in this research project will be the use of unfamiliar or unrelated
research methodology or technology which might increase the research time and cost resulting
in a delay in the research project. The scope of achieving the research outcome may be limited
by the inability to access to desired participants (Ashtiani, 2015). It is also important to use
economic tools so as to ensure that the actual cost does not exceed the estimated cost. The
timeline of the Gantt chart is to be duly followed for timely completion of the research. It is
equally difficult to take consent of employees of Nestlé for collecting their views and opinions
regarding the research topic.
Communication Plan
Regular interaction with project supervisor is to be maintained for managing and controlling the
research timeframe and also validate the achievement of research aims and objectives (Ravasi,
2015). It is also essential to effectively communicate the purpose of the research to employees
of Nestlé by using email and get informed consent for their participation in the research survey.
The reliable and unbiased response of each participant will be collected via email by sending an
online questionnaire and also the research outcome will be communicated to them.
