According to Ariely, 2016., “recruitment and selection is a procedure through which
organisations attracts, hires and selects the right persons for the job at right time.” In addition to
this, it is a process of searching the candidates and encourage them to applying for the vacant
jobs of organisations. In other words, it is a method through which two parties are comes
together those who are offering jobs and those who are searching jobs. This is a positive process
from which a large pool of candidates are attracted so that management can easily select right
persons as per their expectations.
As per the views of Carayannis, 2017. “ Recruitment and selection process are called one
of the important duty of HR which have to adhere by them for maximising the employee strength
within the workplace so that future goals will be achieved in easy manner.” In addition to this,
this method includes various activities like sourcing, screening, short listing of candidates so that
right candidate would be selected for the vacant position.
Scope of Recruitment and Selection
As per the taken views of Jones‐Farmer., “Scope of this process is very wide and consists
of variety of activities. Resources are considered as the most important asset of any
organisation.” Hence, hiring of right employees can also taken as the precious resources in the
firm which is rare and valuable for the organisation and their skills can't be imitate by anyone.
Human resources are considered as the most important and valuable asset in each firm because
without their contribution organisation can't take growth or success in marketplace. Therefore, it
can be said that scope of this process is very huge and always supports the firm in hiring
knowledgeable and experienced candidates.
Improvement in recruitment and selection Methods
According to Schmidheiny. 2017, “ each firm in the marketplace wants to expand their
market share and profitability therefore it is very essential for the HR managers of Nestle to
make proper plans for selecting candidates so that right candidates for the vacant job positions
can be hired at workplace.” There are various things like well defined job posting, utilisation of
HR technology etc. which should be considered by the employers so that overall process of
recruitment and selection would be improved in proper manner. When firm will post the jobs in
effective manner then it would create good perception of the organisation in the mindset of
customers which will ultimately leads the firm towards improving the recruitment and selection
procedure. Apart from that, utilisation of HR technology can also assist the managers of Nestle

in improving recruitment and selection process as it helps the organisation in saving the time of
attracting and screening of candidates which can also considered as the improvement method of
recruitment and selection method.
P2 Project management plan that covers cost, scope, time, quality, communication, risk and
resources
Project management plan is defined as a formal or approved document that is essentially
needed for properly executing the project this is also used for defining every phases of a project
so that project activities can be performed by researcher in an effective manner. It also provides
manner to the research in which project will be executed or completed so that a valid or reliable
conclusion will be received at the end of research. There are various aspects which are associated
in the project management plan like cost, time, scope, quality etc. which are briefly discussed as
under:
Cost: It is the major aspect while executing a research programme because without its
estimation any research programme can't carried out in a proper manner. With the help of
this, management can easily conduct a research programme which will be helpful for the
them in determining the amount of funds that will be invested for getting suitable results
for the research topic. It includes all necessary activities which are executed under a
project and how much funds are needed for completing the research programme
(Kodama, 2016). Cost estimated by the organisation to manage their project is 45000
pounds whereas, researcher has demanded 10000 pounds for completing this project in a
proper manner. The different ways which can be used by an organisation to improve their
deliverance in international market in respect of the activities mentioned above is about
For recruitment, usage of online aptitude test, For Selection, required to use the technique
of personal interview as this will help to determine their special attributes. In last, for
training, simulation is the best approach that help to adapt the different cultures and
norms respectively. For doing all the activities in respect of all the activities requires to
have a budget of 15000 is allotted to each process for improving them.
Scope: By using the online aptitude test in recruitment process firm can select suitable
candidate having required knowledge or experiences. Whereas, when personal interviews
will be conducted by the HR managers of firm then they can select the candidate based
on their skills such as communication and interpersonal skills and for improving the

training firm can use simulation process so that employees can face tough or complex
situation in an easy manner. Therefore, it can be said that the scope of improvement in
recruitment, selection and training process is very wide.
Time: For completing the research programme in more effective manner appropriate
time frame is very essential because if time period is not sufficient then the project
activities will be not handled in proper manner. The management of the Nestle has
estimated a time period of 12 months for improving their recruitment, selection and
training process. In this, 4 months are allotted to the each process. Researcher have
estimated the time of 4 weeks to executing the research programme.
Quality: It is also an essential aspect which is included in project management. At the
time of execution of research programme, quality is also measured with the tools and
techniques which are used by the management in performing project activities. When
appropriate research methods such as qualitative research methods will be used then
research will be also carried out in proper and effective manner. Online aptitude test,
simulation and personal interview will improve the quality of the recruitment, training
and selection methods of nestle.
Communication: This is an essential aspect which plays very important role in executing
the research programme in an effective manner so that a valid conclusion will be received
at the end of research. Without this aspect team members of a specific project can't share
important information with each other. Therefore, it can be said that if management will
not consider this aspect while executing research then chances of falling of project are
also higher. Therefore, Project team of Nestle have to implement various communication
methods like video conferencing, printed documents, telephonic communication etc. to
take proper coordination from their staff members. Apart from that, researcher have to
use SMS, Messages, E-mails for communicating with the respondents so that a valid
conclusion can be constructed within a given time-frame (Nicholas, 2017).
Risk: There are various risks which are faced by researcher during execution of research
programme like shortage of funds or inappropriate knowledge. In the personal interview
process, risk of hiring inefficient or unskilled candidates exist some time which can
impact the entire performance of firm in negative manner. Whereas, in simulation and

online aptitude test technical risk exist which can impact the training and selection
process.
Resources: For conducting the project activities in most appropriate manner several
resources are required such as technological equipments for simulations and online
aptitude test procedures and experienced workforce in HR department. For researcher,
most essentially needed resources are internet, money, magazines etc. which will be
helpful for them in conducting research programme in an effective manner.
P3 Work breakdown structure and Gantt chart to provide time-frame
Work break-down structure: It is a key project deliverable which categorise and
organise the project work in various small parts so that activities can be performed in an
appropriate manner. It also guides the project managers of Nestle to divide the project activities
in small parts so that team members of project team can easily understand and perform their
duties in a proper manner.

Gantt chart: This is a bar chart which represents the project schedule in an structured
manner. This chart graphically represents all the activities of a project as per the specific time-
frame. This chart is mostly used by the researcher or project managers for completing a research
programme within a given time-frame. It also illustrates start and finish of a project which

P4 Small scale research by applying qualitative and quantitative research methods
Small scale research: SSR is a direct or comprehensive guide for the students so that
they can complete their thesis, proposals, or projects. It is work with a systematic manner so that
weaknesses or strength of the project can be identified in proper manner. It also consumes less
data and time of the researcher due to which valid conclusion are provided by them in a short
time period. There are generally two kinds through which a researcher can perform the research
programme in an effective manner which are defined as under:
Qualitative research: This method is assists the researcher in solving the problem
through numerical or statistical data. It also provide aid to the researcher in presenting the
collected numerical or statistical data in an appropriate manner. This method is most beneficial
because with the help of it, researcher can achieve all the objectives of research in the given time
frame.
According to Adi Bhat, (2018) “ qualitative research is defined as a method of research
that focuses on obtaining data through open-ended and conversational communication.” This
method is not focuses what people thinks towards a topic whereas, it emphasizes on why they
think in this way. For example employees works within the firm because they receive outcomes
as per their work or performance but if they will not perform their work in better manner than
they will be terminated by their superiors which is not good for their future time. Therefore, it
can be said that there is a perception in the mindset of employees such as if they will work then
they will receive proper compensate as per their performed work but if their performance will
not good then they have to left their jobs. One good method for this situation for researcher is to
make a questionnaire so that their perception towards the firm can be identified which will be
beneficial for the researcher to investigate the outcomes in a proper manner. Through taking their
views and opinions of various employees the researcher will be know about their demands and
needs from their superiors and opinions of employees on the research topic. In this researcher
collects the data from conducting surveys, personal interviews, systematic observations etc.
Therefore, it can be said that this method allows the investigator to get in-depth
knowledge about the research topic and also encourage them to interact with the individuals
through which a valid conclusion can be made in easy manner.
Quantitative research methods- This method is used for identifying the issues which
are facing by the firm through collecting numerical data so that it can be modified in
Document Page
understandable manner. In it, data is gathered from the existing or potential respondents through
using sampling methods and interprets this data in a understandable manner so that future
modifications can be done accordingly by the organisation.
According to Henly, (2015). “Quantitative research is a systematic investigation of
phenomena through collecting quantifiable data and performing statistical techniques so that
valid conclusion can be constructed at the end of research.” For collecting data in this type of
research, researcher can use questionnaires, surveys so that better opinions and views can be
taken by the respondents. For example- project manager of Nestle wants to know that how much
time will be taken by the team mates for performing a specific project for this, they can conduct
a survey with a questionnaire for understanding the amount of time which is spend by the
employees for completing the project. With the help of it, the project manager will be know how
much time did employees take in completing a single activity of project or if the employees feels
relaxed after completion of project etc. This research methods are mostly used by the researcher
so that specific project can be accomplish within a given time frame.
Primary research method: In it, Fresh and new data is collected which was not
published or used in a research programme. For collecting this kind of data, researcher can use
observations, personal interviews or questionnaires etc.
Secondary research method: This method is used when researcher have less time and
funds for conducting the research programme. In this method, researcher have to collect those
data which is already collected with the help of primary research method. In it, researcher can
gather the information through various books of authors, news papers, Books, journals etc.
In this research, researcher have used qualitative and quantitative both research methods
so that better results will be received in future period. For this project, primary research is used
in the kind of questionnaire. With the help of this method, researcher will asked some questions
from the stakeholders or individuals which are taking as the respondents in this project and their
opinion will be taken as per the view of whole population (Pekuri, 2014).
Sampling size: Total 40 respondents are taken in this report for collecting valid information
from them.
