Cost – this is an essential component that enables in allocation of resources. Cost is required to
travel, stationary items, etc. increase in cost also results in increasing time of study. For this
research total cost required will be approx £100.
Time –It is also crucial element as it provides an estimation of time in which research will be

P4 Small research by using qualitative and quantitative method
To conduct a research there are different methods used. It helps in gathering relevant data
and attaining aims and objectives. Research methodology provides a framework of various
method used. They are discussed as follows –:
Research philosophy: It is the framework of entire research. It shows how overall study is been
conducted and purpose of research (Crane, Kawashima and Kawasaki, 2016). There are different
philosophies available that can be used such as positivism, interpretivism, realism, etc.
Pragmatism uses concepts to develop knowledge about it. However, in interpretivism
quantitative data is evaluated which is based on topic. Positivism philosophy is used to find out
how MNC are working at glob level to fulfill their needs.
Research design: It is comprised of various components. It is a strategy implemented by scholar
to integrate different elements of research in valid and articulate method (Smith, 2018).
Exploratory, descriptive, etc. are different design. It depends on scholar willingness that which
design is to be used. Descriptive design is used to as it will enable in analysing in depth about
how MNC are capable of meeting their needs at global level.
Research type: - It depends on nature of study and there are two types of it that is qualitative
and quantitative. In qualitative in-depth study is done to get more knowledge and information of
topic. It is used to collect theoretical data by analyzing opinions, views, etc. of other authors
whereas in quantitative facts and figures are analyzed and evaluated (Crane, Kawashima and

whereas in quantitative facts and figures are analyzed and evaluated (Crane, Kawashima and
6

Kawasaki, 2016). The study is based on both qualitative and quantitative type. It will help in
finding out recruitment, selection and training requirements are met by MNC’s, what methods
are followed, etc.
Research approach: it is the plan and procedure that show how data is gathered and interpreted.
This is useful in proceeding in systematic way. There are three approached used like deductive,
abductive and inductive (Rodrik, 2018). The hypothesis that involves research question is known
as deductive one. The inductive uses theories that are based on observations. At last in abductive
empirical phenomena is applied. The current study will use deductive approach. This will help in
evaluating needs of MNC in context to various aspects.
Sampling: the data is gathered by dividing population on certain basis. It is known as sampling.
In these various techniques are there that helps in selecting samples on some criteria. They are
probability and non-probability. These techniques are further divided into some more like
cluster, snowball, etc. Here, random sampling method is used, and sample size is 20 employees.
Data collection: the data collected should be precise and relevant. It is because outcomes are
based on it. Also, it authentic data gathered helps in providing answer of research question in
effective way (Cvetkovich, 2018). Generally, there are two normal methods that are primary and
secondary. The data gathered for first time is primary data. For this interview, survey, etc. is
done whereas in secondary past data is gathered from journals, etc. in present study, both
methods are been applied. Here, primary data is gathered through questionnaire.
Data analysis- It is technique or method that is used to interpret data to obtain useful and
relevant information. It is necessary to analyze data appropriately so that outcomes are produced,
and goals are attained. Besides this, scholar must possess knowledge about different tools that
are used in data analysis. For present research, data analysis will be done by using thematic
analysis method. Hence, in this report both methods have been undertaken as qualitative as well
quantitative.
Ethics– There are several ethical considerations that must be followed. In this first security and
privacy of data must be maintained. It should be stored in database and not shared with other.
Also, dignity and respect of participants must not be hurt. Their written consent should be taken
in order to take open views and opinions of them (Samiee, 2019).
