INTRODUCTION
This report is prepared to assess the quality control mechanisms used by Nestle. In the first part
the scope and objectives of the quality assurance system of Nestle. And after that scope and
objectives of quality control mechanisms and total quality control management system are
assessed respectively. And this assessment is based on various marketing reports and surveys.
Nestle is one of the leading consumer goods companies. And it is active across the globe and
offers prepared and processed food items, health care services and dairy products. It provided
employment to more than 3.5 million populations in Asia, the Americas, Europe and Africa
(Nestle Logo, 2019).

Quality assurance system
Quality can be defined as the catering the needs and demands of all consumers in terms of
longevity, designs, features, and price of the product. Assurance can be defined as the affirmative
statement by the consumers after receiving the product. And quality assurance can be defined as
a method to ensure that the organization is offering the best quality products and services in the
market. The quality assurance is comprised of four steps: plan, do, check, and act. And any
organization needs to follow policies, procedures and monitoring mechanisms in order to deliver
the error-free product in the market (Kitto, 2019).
Every organization has a different definition of quality and Nestle defined quality as a “state of
being error free”. And it considers the quality of its products as the main reason behind its global
success. Quality assurance system of Nestle is as follows:
A quality assurance system is part of TQM. And its duties are as follows:
Create the products and services only after integrating all policies, values and business
principles of an organization.
Devise an effective strategy for both the long term and short terms goals of an
organization.
Constantly monitor the qualities of products and keep modifying the product as per the
changing needs of the consumer in order to keep the consumers satisfied (Nestle Logo,
2019).
Hierarchy of quality assurance in Nestle:
The quality of the products in Nestle is initially ensured by the quality manager market, and then
the quality assurance coordinator in the organization. And at the bottom level, there are various
quality analysts. The principles followed by Nestle to assure the quality is as follows. The three
C’s strategy has been prepared by the Nestle to assure the quality of its products and services:

Relishing consumer: the first C is for the consumer. And the aim of the Nestle is to delight the
consumer by delivering excellent quality, safe and secure products to its consumers at an
affordable price (Banerjee, 2018).
Delivering competitive advantage: the next in the three C strategy of Nestle is to deliver the
products by assuring the quality. And to ensure the health and safety measures across the
complete range of products.
Excel in compliance: and Nestle in the last part ensure the compliance of all health and safety
standards set by all national and international organizations.
The quality assurance is ensured by Nestle from the farm to the folk that is in the complete
product development cycle. Nestle has set the principles to ensure the quality of the product even
during its development phase. And the company also aims to ensure the equal distribution of
benefits with the farmers and increase their level of earning (Banerjee, 2018).
It applies all global and local standards for health and safety and adopted the best manufacturing
exercise’s to assure the quality. Nestle is a globally recognized brand to ensure the quality and
remove any error and defect in the product. And it kept on increasing the quality by taking the
"from project-driven initiative". Nestle has executed the management philosophy called “lean
thinking” to ensure the zero defect and effect on the environment due to its operations (Nestle
Logo, 2019).
In the quality assurance system Nestle adopted the following activities:
Quality Audit: in this mechanism, the quality of a product is monitored based on certain
parameters and indicators. And the quality of products is continuously assessed by the QAS in
order to manufacture a product error and defect free (Banerjee, 2018).
Defining procedure: the procedure for assuring the quality is formulated by the QAS by
comprehensive analysis of market needs and values, missions.
Equipment recognition and selection: the next step adopted by the Nestle for assuring the
quality of its products and services is to select the right methods for it (Kitto, 2019).

Training for quality standards and procedures: As Nestle ensure the quality by constant
improvement in the products. And for the training and constant skilling has to be provided by the
different sessions (Burr, 2018).
TASK 7
The quality control process is defined as the process to ensure the quality as per the set standards
in a delivered product and service. And for this method, the organization monitors the product
and finds any error or shortcoming in it. And after that by adopting certain measures they remove
the defects and offer the product to the clients in order to attain a competitive edge in the market.
Quality of products and services offered by Nestle are ensured according to the quality standards
set by the organization. The organization's objectives are to build trust by conforming to all local
as well as global mechanisms set to ensure the quality. The quality control system of Nestle as
follows (Banerjee, 2018).
Good manufacturing practices: Nestle adopts best manufacturing practices and aligned them
with the set standard by global organizations to ensure the quality of their products.
Hazard analysis and critical control point: this system is been adopted by Nestle to ensure
food safety and also to evaluate and identify the dangers and control them (Burr, 2018).
Interaction with the consumer: Nestle constantly interacts with the consumers and invite the
feedbacks from them for their changed requirement and integrate the changes in future
development and design.
Quality in crafting: Nestle understands the changing need of market and uses the best design
method for its products to make the products lucrative for the market forces and make them
available with the best quality future s in the market

This model ensures the lasting of the products and the services offered and constant
improvement in them.
It ensures the use of best practices in the complete product development cycle.

sector to enhance the quality of its products and services (Burr, 2018).
By adopting this method Nestle ensures meeting its objectives and methods. And it also ensures
the fulfillment of its present as well as future needs and gains a competitive edge and ensures the
market share.

TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Total quality management means a total control on the quality of the product in the organization.
TQM is described as the management approach to control the quality of the product which is
being developed in the organization to attain the customer satisfaction this process includes all
the employees get involved in this process as this is done for the betterment of the quality of the
product and it works on some principles which are as followed (ASQ, 2019):
Customer Focused: The process of TQM is customer focused it is carried out to deliver the best
to the customer so that customer satisfaction is at the highest level. For this, the company trains
the employees, designs the process and accordingly carries out the work.
Total employee involvement: TQM involves all the employees working in the organization
towards the common goal of the organization. This can only be achieved when the workplace is
empowered and motivated enough to carry the work. Nestle the employees can achieve TQM
when they collectively work together without any fear and doubts. A high-performance work
system can be integrated with such an environment and continuous improvement can be
achieved.
process-centred: The whole process of the TQM is focused on the various steps and inputs of
the employees and the suppliers and the measures the outputs in the form of customer
satisfaction considering the internal and external environment. This step is based on the
performance and the steps are to be continuously monitored and measured to maintain
productivity.
Integrated: The process of TQM is integrated and interdependent upon various organizational
functions and organizational structure, different departments, etc. TQM is done with the
integrated employees and the system of the organization where all the employees work for the
same common goal with harmony and parity (ASQ,2019).
Strategic and systematic approach: TQM is the systematic approach to increase the quality of
the product with management strategies. The strategies which are applied in TQM for the

systematic approach rotate around the goal of the organization and accordingly, the strategies are
formulated and the process is designed which acts as a core component.
Continual Improvement: The main of TQM is to attain the maximum improvement in the
product. TQM is done for getting the highest customer satisfaction by providing continuous
improvement in the product by applying various strategies in the organization. These strategies
are analytical and creative in finding the different ways to become more competitive and increase
the production of the Nestle in the better and desired form.
Fact-Based Decision making: TQM makes the decision of various things on the basis of the
facts and results. How much company is producing to what extent it is able to satisfy the
customer all these facts and results are being considered very keenly in the process of total
quality management. This helps in making accurate decisions in the organization (Akpoviroro et
al.,2019)
Communications: During the organizational changes as well as part of TQM it is important to
have effective communication with all the employees by making them clear with the strategies,
plans, procedures, and goals of the organization. It is very important that a clear communication
should be there between the different departments and the departmental heads.
TQM IN NESTLE
Nestle follows a quality standard for maintaining a continuous improvement management cycle.
It guarantees the food safety and compliance with the value of the consumers it considers all the
factors which affect the customers, by focusing on the commitments, towards customers,
environment by avoiding waste and defects, marinating the consistency of the product and
adding the compliance of the food safety (Prezi, 2019).
The NCE Nestle Continuous Excellence is the single operating system for the Nestle which
enables it to avoid wastage and defects in the product and continuous improvement is there in the
product. This can be achieved by making effective product line planning and a more efficient
warehouse and separating area for forklifts. Till today about 72 Nestle factories have achieved
(15% ) zero waste by using lean production techniques. NCE is backed by various philosophies

that are six sigma, total productive maintenance, quality circles, etc. and lead to 5-6% of organic
growth.
The quality assurance of Nestle is enforced by the quality management of Nestle which is
implemented through supplier verifications, risk assessment, training the staff and adhering to
the safety standards. The quality improvement process of nestle includes customer-preference
testing, safety, and hygiene, consistency and reliability, efficiency and affordability. With the
TQM process, it also follows the plan, does, check and act policy also. This has made Nestle get
the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2010 (Prezi, 2019).

CONCLUSION
This assignment based on the quality control, quality assurance and quality management of
Nestle. This quality check is based on the future and present needs of the company to maintain
the quality of the product. Nestle is serving globally and it is important for such a big company
to maintain the quality and fulfill the customer's desires with the change in the taste and
preferences. For maintaining the quality and for the continuous improvement in Nestle TQM has
played a big role to control, manage and check the quality of the products by applying various
strategies and theories in the organizational and on the employees which have made Nestle be
among the most trusted consumer brand on a global level.
