INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is the process of recruiting, selecting and managing the
employees of the organization, so that the goal of an organization is achieved in efficient
manner. This project is on the basis of Netflix organization which is a world's leading television
network which includes series, documentaries, films with a paid membership used across
different countries in wide variety of languages (Furnham, 2017). This project includes purpose,
importance and elements of human resource management which is used to fulfil the business
objective.
1. Hrm concept and purpose of netflix
Concept of hrm
HRM is concerned of management of people they are working in the organization
(DeCenzo, Robbins and Verhulst, 2016). Thus, HRM can be also characterized as a process of
procuring, developing and maintaining of human resources in the Netflix so that they can help
for achieving organization goals and objective in an effective and efficient way. Many policies
and practices are designed by an Netflix for helping there employees for achieving its goals and
objectives.
Purpose
The main purpose of Netflix is to serve and satisfy its customer. It has a clear purpose,
mission and vision that how they can easily manage their staff and Netflix is focus on the
energies and resources of the workers and their knowledge. This will make a healthy
environment in the team and keeps the organization strong and success. Netflix able to react
speedily to meet the consumer need. The purpose of HRM is stopping these issues in the basic
point and maximize a company's performance by investing with right investor (Bratton and
Gold, 2017). Those who work in this sector have the skills, knowledge and tools necessary to
find and employee the best talent, help employees succeed in their roles and ensure great
employed conditions.
2. Key functions of Netflix
Two main function of Netflix are use in setup and identifying organization goals and
achieving of business objectives. These functions are below here.

Planning- Planning is the pre determine activity of Netflix that are closely related with future for
identifying and analysing current and future human needs in Netflix.
Organizing- In a Netflix project are allocated among all the employees of organization and
activities are integrated towards objective.
Staffing- Staffing is the process of hiring the employee according their skill and knowledge for
different-2 position for Netflix.
Directing-Directing involves which things that are manager is telling their employees how they
are performing job. Organization manager is guiding, supervising, and motivating their
employees how they are achieving the Netflix goals.
Controlling — Controlling function is help to checking error with in the Netflix. It consists
verification of Netflix. Controlling of Netflix only focus on the measurement of feedback
however can be seriously misleading.

Training and Development- This function of hrm is help the employees for improving there
skills and knowledge during the job or for a new join employees of Netflix and development
include improving skill efficiency of employee after hiring.
Recruitment and selection- recruitment is the of process of searching a new candidate for a
specific job or a vacant post for using recruitment tools and technology. And the selecting is the
process of choosing a new candidate among the all applicants.
Performance appraisal-Performance appraisal is the process of evaluation of employees
performance for understanding their ability and future growth and development.
Job analysis- job analysis for the Netflix refer to the collection of data and information that are
relating with different view of job and responsibilities (Manish, 2020). Job analysis, job
description, and job specification are helping in identifying nature of human resource in Netflix.
3. Importance of Workforce Planning in Recruitment and Selection Process
Workforce planning is a constant process which is used by business organization to
increase the potential of employees to achieve objectives effectively. Workforce planning is the
strategic activity performed by human resource managers to ensure effective performance by
analysing proper skills and knowledge (Nankervis and et.al., 2016). Workforce planning is very
essential as it helps Netflix to fill the gaps between expectations and current workforce. Netflix is
emerging sector in digital presence and needs to ensure its growth by assessing potential

employees in the company and also increase the opportunities to find more effective talent in the

the help of workforce planning which also increases communication within organization
effectively. It helps to increase healthy work environment and reduce disputes between
employees to improve their shared values to connect with vision of Netflix more efficiently to
achieve objectives of the company. Workforce planning also helps to increase customer
satisfaction as it helps to increase customer relation due to high performance workforce
effectively (Stewart and Brown, 2019).
4. Comparison between recruitment and selection
Recruitment:-
Recruitment is approaching to a candidate or applicant, so they can apply for the vacancy.
It is a process which includes analysing the job requirement and ends with selection of
employees (Carbery and Cross, 2018). There main objective is to invite more and more candidate
to apply for the job.
Sources of recruitment are as follows:-
Internal source:-
This is when the organization thinks to fill the vacancy from inside the organization. It is
done by promoting, transfer, references or ex-employees.
External source:-
When the organization recruits from outside the organization, they select a number of
candidates which are required from the large number of applicants. It is done by advertisements,
campus recruitment, and exchanging employees.

depends upon the qualification, skills needed for a particular position. In Netflix a person must
know the language of the series they are going to produce.
Job analysis:-
It analysis the duties, conditions, nature and outcomes of the particular job. Job analysis
is done by reviewing the job responsibility of an employee, researching and sharing with other
companies that have similar jobs.
Person specification:-
A person is specified with his job according to their skills, qualification and experience.
In Netflix an employee is specified that they want to go in a particular series only.
Competency framework:-
Competency framework is a process that help HR to develop their skills and attributes
that relate to their roles and making a standardized approach in their performance.
Selection:-
Selection is a process or hiring or selecting a right person at a right job from number of
applicants who had applied for the job (Waltman and et.al., 2019). In Netflix a person is selected
according their skills and qualification required for a position. Netflix is a reliable organization
in their selection criteria and they also provide induction to their new employees for their better
understanding.
Methods used for selection:-
The candidate is source from their resumes, their skills, interest, experience is searched
according to the need of the Netflix series or films (Abzug, 2017). The candidate who is sourced
is invited for the coffee, so the organization can develop a good relationship between them and
candidate also get to know about them. After that candidate is called for the interview. On the
basis of their interview they get selected. If the candidate is selected after the interview they can
continue otherwise the candidate will be motivated and can try for the next time.

Descriptions, 2020). This also reduces the efficiency of the screening process due to lack of time
and more pressure on recruiters. However, from the current recruitment process Netflix gain
more information about skills and knowledge to design effective selection process. Company
uses written and practical selection techniques for to analyse technical skills of the candidates to
increase potential of the company effectively. This process of recruitment also help Netflix to
gather high volume of talent from different locations who have potential according to job

screenings and in person meetings to gain better perspective of the personality of candidates.
After selection in the recruitment round company provide opportunities to candidates to fill form
for preferable locations to increase their job satisfaction. For example, job description of

CONCLUSION
It can be concluded that HRM is very important for every organization. An organization
is not able to fulfil its goal without HRM. Recruitment and selection of an employee consist of
different methods and approaches which is used by the Netflix. Every process of selection have
some pros and cons which directly or indirectly affect the organization.
