Introduction
According to the task we have to research on the requirement of the organization by talking to the
employees of it. After getting the basic outline for the requirement, we will further go for the
implementation of the network. The network will be implemented upon the packet tracer with the
configuration required for better scalability and reliability of it.
Task 1
The work is to implement a network for “ABC IT institute”. First of all, we have to research the
organization requirements. We will first discuss with some organization worker to check their
requirements.
Employee First:
S. No Question to be Asked Answer was given by the
Employee.
1. Number of hosts in the given organization? 150-200
2. Which class IP address are required? Class C
3. Is there any other device need to connect? Access Point
4. How much Access Point required 4
From the above description given by the employee, we get to know that we have to create the IP
address of class C. We also need an access point for the connection of the wireless devices. Total access
point required and the number of hosts they required.
Now, the second employee requirements:
Employee Second:
S. No Question to be asked Answer Given by the Employee.
1. Number of departments? Four.
2. Department name? Account, Lab, Sales, and Admin.
3. Do they need different VLAN’s in their organization? Yes.
4. Will they need to communicate? Yes.
So, from the above requirement of the employee, we get to know that the company have four different
departments where these departments need different VLAN’s. They will also need to communicate with

each other. For this, we will make use of the following devices to design the network. The following
diagram given below has been designed using draw.io to understand the overview of the network
architecture [1].
Figure 1: Network Design
We have created four different departments for each individual. We have taken use of four different
switches following with one multi-port switch. We have taken one server which has been connected to
the multi-port switch so that the services which will be enabled and configured on a given server will be
able to access by all the users which are connected to the switch. We will configure some basic services
on the server which will help all the user to share and communicate with each of the users in the
origination [2].

Task 2
In this task, we need to implement a network which best suite for the organization in terms of design
and scalability.
We have used Cisco Packet Tracer for the implementation of the network for the ABC institute. The
implementation will be done in the following way as given in the figure below:
Figure 2: Cisco Implementation
Using packet tracer, we have implemented the network for the organization. We created four
departments in four different sections. Now the work is to configure the router, computers, switch for
the actual implementation of the network [3]. First of all, the services which we are going to implement
are:
1. DHCP: Configure DHCP service on the server. The configuration has been shown below in the figure.

Figure 3: DHCP Configuration on server
we have configured service of DHCP on the server where we have given the start IP and subnet mask of
the network range and also the maximum users that need to be connected. For checking that this
service has been enabled in the connected devices, we can go to the connected devices and then enable
DHCP then the IP address will automatically get generated.
2. VLAN creation for different departments: We will create four VLAN’s for four different departments. We
are implementing VLAN’s to differentiate the different departments from each other. The configuration
will be as follow:

Next, we start assigning the department to their VLAN’s. Which means that all the four departments will
be in the four VLAN’s which has been created.

Figure 5: Assigning VLAN's
We have assigned Admin to Admin VLAN, Sales to sales VLAN, Account to account VLAN, and lastly LAB
to LAB VLAN.
3. FTP Server: Configuring FTP server so that there will be a backup of all the configuration files. Whenever
it is required to fetch out then the valid user will be able to extract the files which have been saved in
the FTP server [4]. The configuration has been shown below:

Figure 6: FTP Server Configuration
We have created a user name and the password for accessing the FTP server. The username has been
set as Admin and the password is also Admin. At the time of ftp login, we need to give the following
credential for accessing FTP server.
4. Email Service: We are going to configure the email service also for the organization. So that if any of the
users wants to send an email inside the network to any of the connected users, then that will be easy for
them for sending the mails through the service of mail server. The configuration has been shown below:

Figure 7: Email Service
The above configuration the work done by us is that we have created four users with their password for
the different department. As if one department user wants to send mail to another department user
then that user just needs to insert his credential at the time of configuring the mail.
Now we will check the communication and the services that have been configured in the given scenario:
First, we will check the connectivity of different department. So, we will try to ping the computer of one
department from another department computer.

The connectivity of different department is successful. As the communication or the reply is coming
without any interruption.
Now we will check DHCP has been enabled in the connected computers. We will go to the computers
and then check the DHCP service.

Figure 9: DHCP Successful
As we can see in the above figure that DHCP is enabled and the address in automatically getting assigned
to the system. It cannot be changed manually.
After which we will check FTP services on the computers. For this we will use command prompt of the
computers then we have to write the command as given in the figure below:
