Introduction
We are going to build network infrastructure for ABC It Institute. Where we will first need to find out the
requirements of the organization by asking some of the question related to their total number of users,
devices and their needs. After which we will implement some of the basic services as per the
organization need.

Task 1:
For building the network we first need to know the basic requirement of the organization so that the
network can be implemented easily and further there will be no trouble. For gathering the requirement
of the organization, we will ask some basic questions from the different users.
User 1:
Serial No. Questions Solution
1. How many users are there in the organization? 200-220
2. How many departments are there? 4
3. Provide the names of the department. Admin, Sales, Finance, and
Marketing.
4. How many users are there in each organization? 50-60
User 2:
Serial No. Questions Solution
1. Is there will be any increment in the user in next 5
year?
Approx. 20 - 30 users.
2. Do these departments communicate with each
other?
Yes.
3. Do you want this department to be in separate
VLAN’s?
Yes.
4. Which class of address do you want? Class C.
User 3:
Serial No. Questions Solution
1. Do you want a dynamic IP address? Yes.
2. Do you need DNS service to get enable? Yes.
3. Any security recommendation. Provide basic security to the
routers.
4. Do you want to send emails inside the network? Yes.

Figure 1: Network Design
The network above consists of four departments namely Admin, Finance, Sales, and Marketing. Each
department is in a separate VLAN’s. The network address which we are going to make us in the
following network design is of Class C. The network address is 192.168.1.0/24. The IP will be assigned to
each of the systems connected automatically as DHCP service will be configured on the router. Each of
the department will have at least 60-70 user.

Task 2:
We will make use of the packet tracer for designing the following network infrastructure. The services
need to be implemented on the server. Some of the services which we are going to implement are Web
Services, Mail Service, DNS, and will also configure DHCP on the router. The configuration will help the
organization’s network to be reliable.
The design which has been implemented on packet tracer is shown below:
Figure 2: Packet Tracer Design
The following design consists of four different departments which are in a different VLAN’s. We have
made use of the multi-port switch so that Configuring VLAN will be easy to implement. We can create
different VLAN’s and the creation will automatically be implemented on the other switch.
First, we will configure the VLAN on the multi-port switch as shown in the configuration given below:
5
Document Page
Figure 3: VLAN’s Configuration
We have created four different VLANs which number are set as VLAN 10 for Admin, VLAN 20 for Sales,
VLAN 30 for Finance, and VLAN 40 for Marketing. Each VLAN has been assigned different numbers to get
separated. Now we need to configure each port to assign to each department [1].

Figure 4: VLAN Assigning
In the above figure, we can see that VLAN which we have created. We have also assigned the interface
of each department to the available VLAN. The configuration is done for differentiating different
department from one another [3].
Now we will configure DHCP on the router for dynamic allocation of the IP’s. The configuration of the
DHCP is shown below:
7
Document Page
Figure 5: DHCP Configuration
We have configured DHCP so that all the connected user’s devices will get the IP addresses
automatically. There is no requirement for an individual for going to each of the connected computers
or some networking devices and give them a static IP. After the configuration, we will check the
following command is working or not [2].
8
Document Page
Figure 6: DHCP Successful
We have checked the computer IP Address by going to its IP Configuration. There we can enable the
DHCP services for the address. Wait for few seconds and we will get the address automatically. The best
part of it is just a single click and the address will be generated for the device. The free address will be
assigned to the device. DHCP works on a priority basis. The first system which will enable the service of
DHCP will get the first address assigned by DHCP. The above figure shows that the computer is getting a
dynamic address.
After this, we will enable some of the services of the server for the organization. The services include
DNS service, Web Service, and Mail services.
First of all, we will discuss the DNS service and the configuration of it. As DNS is for Domain Name
System. It is basically the service which is there for converting the domain names and the IP addresses in
vice versa.

Figure 7: DNS Configuration
In the above figure, we have configured DNS service where we have assigned the name to the IP
address. The name which has been assigned to the address is abcitinstitute.com. It means that we can
use the name instead of the address or the address instead of the name.
10

Figure 8: DNS Successful
In the above figure, we can see that the web service is accessed by the name instead of the IP address.
As there is a human tendency of remembering the name instead of the numbers. So, DNS helps the
human for converting the address to the name so that they can easily be able to remember it [4].
After DNS service we will configure the Mail service in the attached server. For this we need to first
enable the Mail service in the server and give the following requirement’s:
