Report
AI Summary
This report presents a network design solution, beginning with research into various network design options and a discussion of their pros and cons. It details the setup of a network consisting of PCs, routers, switches, and servers, including the configuration of static routing between routers with multiple network interfaces. The report provides screenshots to support the configuration of PCs, servers, and router interfaces with appropriate network addressing. It includes ping tests to verify network connectivity, covering client interfaces, local and remote router gateways, and servers, along with traceroute command results. Furthermore, the report covers the configuration of network services such as DHCP, a web server, DNS, and a firewall, providing a comprehensive overview of the network implementation.

NETWORK DESIGN
Task 1: Research
For the development of the network design an analysis is done on the requirement of
the organization and a proper subnet is created for allowing the users to connect with the
network and share information with each other. There are some advantages and
disadvantages of development of the computer networking and the advantages are given
below:
Enhances the availability of information and communication – The network that have
full access of internet allows different ways of communication that is impossible without the
development of the network. The users can talk with the means of instant messaging at a real
time and allowing the user to access huge amount of business information residing on the
server.
Allows sharing of resources between the user – The people can access the files from
the servers easily and it can help then to save time and effort and increase their work
performance.
Increases flexibility – The computer based works is developed for assuring that the
resources are shared to the people connected across the network. New technologies can be
explored such that it does not affect the functionality and increases the efficiency of the
current system.
Inexpensive system – Installation of the networking software is costly and the
development of the network would eliminate the needs of changing the network software and
reduce the maintenance cost.

Increases the cost efficiency – It is important for the large companies that have the
requirement of sharing large number of resources to the employees for improvement of the
productivity.
The following are the list of disadvantages identified for the development of the
network solution and are given below:
Lack of independence – It involves a process that operates using a number of
computers such that the people works relying on the computer works rather than manual
works. The users would be dependent on the file and web server and if it breaks down the
system would be of no use to the users.
Poses security difficulties – A large number of people would be using the network and
request for files and resources and thus the security of some of the users would be always at
risk. Illegal activities may be performed by some user and it should be taken care for
increasing the security of the network.
Lack of robustness – As from the previous example if the servers breaks down the
entire network system would be useless for the users. In case of the breakage of the central
link between the two routers the entire network would be useless and for dealing with this
problem redundant link and powerful computers should be used for serving the user needs.
Allows presence of computer malware and viruses – In the scenario that the stored ay
get corrupted due to viruses and thus it is needed to perform regular system check-up on the
system and the files.
Requires expensive setup – The computer network are said to be inexpensive if it is
already running but the initial set up cost of the network is high. There are expensive device
such as router, switches, hubs that can add extra cost on the network.
