2. Analysis of User requirements
Both of the technical goals and business goals are set by the company, which is initiated and
managed for present buildings and for another building which is planned to be developed
through WAN based connection system. Based on the approaches of business goals, it has been
observed that the improved communications with wireless system and video conferencing are
three main requirements (Chatfield, 2018). Protection of organisational information is also the
main goal, which is related with the process of technical goals. As the company deals with
serious information, it is highly needed to maintain the overall security structure by initiating
and developing proper framework for the company.
Technical goals of the company is directly associated with the requirement furnished in

the office and connect them with the home network of the office. Reliability, performance and
security are also needed to deal with technical goals (Hassan-Moghaddam and Jovanović,
2018).
2.1 Mandatory requirements
Rebuilding process of the whole network from wired system to wireless system is one of the
mandatory requirements of the company. According to Navlakha et al. (2018), all the devices
used by two of the buildings are connected with wired system where wireless connections
should be established. Three storied buildings also need wireless setup where several
workstations and devices are to be connected. Security is one of the mandatory requirements,
as wireless connection does not provide best security (Seve et al. 2018). Therefore, encryption
technology and proper firewall should properly be used.
2.2 Desirable requirements
Scalable and available network system is to desirable requirements for the company. Based on
the approaches of technical and business goals of the company, scalability and performance of
the company should also be increased (Siami and Skaf, 2018). Currently the overall employee
load of the company is 200. They are now planning to up the number up to 400 employees,
which means strong bandwidth is required for the overall network. The company is also
planning to develop a new building, which will be connected with their present buildings. This
connection should be made based on WAN based platform. This is one of the desirable
requirements of the organisation.
2.3 User communities
User communities required for the organisation are categorised into four major attributes
namely Critical, Major, Normal and Minor (Thonhofer et al. 2018). There are total three floors
in one building and two building serves with four departments. Communities of users with
critical attribute will work for headquarter and constant support is needed. Employees from

attribute. Marketing department will be working with Minor department. Administration does
not fall into any category, as they will fully control both the buildings (Siami and Skaf, 2018).
Employees can also bring their own devices, which will be connected directly with the web
portal of the company.
2.4 Bandwidth requirements
Bandwidth is the specific and special capacity for both wired and wireless communications,
which finalise the network speed and data transmission rate between sender and receiver. It
also determines the rate of data transmissions with a given connection. Network speed and
data transfer rate are two different factors. Data transfer rate is related with the specific
techniques of bandwidth. Symmetrical bandwidth connections will be used for the company
where both upload and download speed will be equal (Chatfield, 2018). It is mandatory to deal
with this type of bandwidth, as most of the departments need both attributes. Some of the
departments may use asymmetrical bandwidth connection where download speed needs
more strength than upload speed.
2.5 Security requirements
Active and passive attack is two different types of attacks, which are associated with network
security. Most of the case it has been observed that wireless connection leads to vulnerable
security issues than wired connection. In case of network security, two basic requirements are
needed which are cryptographic connection and firewall-based connection (Glocker, 2018).
Firewall based connection will mainly lead all the wires connection where every browsers and
home page will be protected through firewalls. Encryption-decryption technique will be
required to send data over wireless connection (Siami and Skaf, 2018). The company can use
Checksums or hash algorithms to deal with network security system.
2.6 Remote access requirements
Remote access will help to connect all devices of the company with wireless connection. The
main function of the remote connections is to build network from remote location. In case of

remote access, the company must have to build their own connection, which will be enable
from remote location. Remote access has ability to access and connect computers with a same
network connection from different places (Hassan-Moghaddam and Jovanović, 2018). Remote
settings of the server computer of the company should be enabled with special dialogue box,
which will provide network connection for other computers and devices.
2.7 Mobility requirements
Alleviate security threats is one of the main requirements attached with mobility factor for the
wireless connection of the company. Office network should be highly protected from both
inbound and outbound attacks. The company is also planning to fix their networks with WAN
based platform which means better wireless LAN coverage as well as capacity will be required
as mobility. As commented by Navlakha et al. (2018), confirmation of reliable and true WLAN
service is highly required to set up wireless connection within the organisation. As two different
buildings will be operated through wireless connection, strong mobility is highly needed to
construct overall connection.
3. Description & Analysis of Current Setup
3.1 Data Transmission Media
Transmission media is of two types namely guided and unguided (Nedić et al. 2018). Guided
media is a structure where wired cable and transmission modes are used. It has been observed
that two main buildings namely A and B are completely connected through wired connection. In
this situation, the company now wants to evaluate wireless connection system, which can be
served through unguided media (Yeh et al. 2018). In most of the cases, the company has used
coaxial cable to connected all their devices. Several workstations are there in four departments,
which mean strong wireless connection will be required as transmission media. Software
development team can use radio waves and microwaves as unguided transmission media. As
per the viewpoint of Chen and Mehta (2018), both Satellite and terrestrial network will be used
in terms of dealing with new transmission media. Circuit-switched network will be used to deal
8
from remote location. Remote access has ability to access and connect computers with a same
network connection from different places (Hassan-Moghaddam and Jovanović, 2018). Remote

with unguided media. According to Cavraro et al. (2019), the bandwidths of each circuit will be
fixed and FDM (Frequency Division Multiplexing) technology will be used to connect all circuits
with the network.
3.2 Network Hardware
A general networking devices used for single core network are routers, gateways, modems,
bridges, networking cables, hubs, switches and wireless access points (Morstyn et al. 2018). In
case of hybrid network devices, more devices are used. Hybrid network devices are major types
where both wired and wireless communications and connections are used. In case of this
particular company, they are planning to exhibit their network with hybrid network devices
where proxy servers, bridge routers, protocol converters, multilayer switches, wireless
network interface controllers and ISDN terminal adapters are required. As mentioned by
Memos et al. (2018), Copper based Ethernet adapter is three most common types of
networking hardware where standard inclusion technique is used.
Bothe building A and building B will be connected through wireless connection where Ethernet
adapter will take advantageous position. Both the buildings also have data centre, which will
also be connected with several networking hardware or devices like database servers, file
servers, as well as storage areas. According to Floris and de Hon (2018), several network
services like Dynamic Host Control Protocol, Domain Name System and email and devices
assure proper delivery of content from the side of sender to receiver. In case of both wired and
wireless connection, there are four different categories, with which network devices are
divided, which are Core, hybrid, border and end stations (Gong et al. 2019). These four
categories are distinguished as per their needs within the network.

3.3 Network Topology (Logical)
Figure 1: Network Topology (Logical)
Mesh topology and simple bus topology will be used to frame the whole network of both the
buildings. It has been observed that building A consists of two different departments namely
Marketing and Software development. An overall 80 workstations are connected with each
other and 14 printers are working within a mesh topology (Li et al. 2019). Building B consists of
two departments namely Production and Administration. Administration department itself
holds 5 workstations and 2 printers where production department also holds same
workstations and same number of printers. In case of direct connection between building A and
building B, wireless connection will be taken under consideration. In this situation, these two
buildings will be connected through wireless access points (Li et al. 2018). Distance between
two buildings is 20 meter that means LAN-based structure will be suitable for both the
buildings.

3.4 Network Topology (Physical)
Figure 2: Network Topology (Physical)
The specific way with which every workstations of a particular department will be connected, is
presented as physical network topology. It has been observed that Ethernet-based structure is
used to deal with the wireless connection. As per the viewpoint of Shine et al. (2018), there will
have a strong wireless connection between two buildings where data transmission rate will be
high. Mesh topology serves best possible solutions for the company where each node of the
network is directly and inversely attached with other node. Distributed connections and
bidirectional connections are structured through mesh topology (Geeksforgeeks.org, 2019). In
some parts of the connection, bus topology is also used where direct transmission line will be
developed for establishing connection between all the required workstations.
3.5 Analysis of existing network
Existing network serves only wired connection where employees are unable to perform remote
access by bringing their own devices (Techsoup.org, 2019). The company is also facing some of
the major problems related with wireless communication. Mobility is lacking for the current
