1NETWORK SECURITY AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS
Summary
Based on several researches it is known that efficient network designs and network
configurations for any organization can significantly improve network performance. The
report is about suggesting a network for Seagull International. First this report is to present
the network diagram and then discuss the networking functionalities. This can include
specifying the operating systems, explaining remote connections, internet calling, wireless
network security and IP addressing. After this the report finishes by giving conclusions.

Introduction
The following report attempts to propose a network design for the organization
Seagull International and specify the services and applications of the network. The report
begins by presenting the network diagram and then goes on to discuss the networking
services (Chou, Baker and Vega-Herrera 2016). This includes specifying the operating
systems, explaining remote connections, internet calling, wireless network security and IP
addressing. After this the report ends with conclusions.
Task 1: Network Diagram

Task 2: Desktop and Server Operating Systems
The operating system that has been selected for the workstations is Windows 10 professional
64 bit. This is because the operating system is the latest and final version from Microsoft and

will continuously obtain newer features through updates. This operating system will also
support both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. For the servers that are connected to the network
the operating system that has been chosen is Windows Server 2016. This is because the
Windows Server family of operating systems bring additional features for better handling
functionalities of servers through applications like server manager which is used to configure
services like DNS, DHCP and others (Makoviy et al. 2017). Windows Server 2016 is also the
most widely used operating system from Microsoft and hence provides maximum
compatibility with products in the Windows environment.
Task 3: Remote Connectivity
The organization is hosting web portal from their web server kept in the DMZ
network for limited access to the Internet (Rosewell et al. 2018). The web server makes the
organization specific applications available to this web portal the DNS configuration of
which is performed by the DNS server. Thus, when Sales team members are working outside
the office, all they need is an internet connection to login to this portal hosted by Seagull
International (Li et al. 2015). This is how the specific network services of the company can
be remotely accessed by the Sales team from outside the organization.
Task 4: Internet and Phone connectivity
For inter personal communications the organizational members are advised to carry
smartphones (Jiang et al. 2016). Each of the departments of Administration, Data Entry and
Sales will provide wireless access points for providing wireless connectivity. For
Administration and Data Entry access points are to use the office network over the same
VLAN and hence will be able to seamless communicate with one another through internet
calling applications like Skype or Facetime.

Task 5: Wireless Network (Sales)
For the Sales department the wireless access point is to be a wireless router so that a different
subnet can be created for providing effective network connectivity to all 12 members without
disturbances or traffic congestions. This wireless router as well as the wireless access points
of other departments are using WPA2 authentication with AES encryption type. Here the
sales team members use the pre shared pass key to connect to the wireless network.

Conclusion
In conclusion, this report is successful in providing network design for Seagull
International and appropriately specifies the services and applications of the network. The
report is observed to present the network diagram and then discuss the networking services.
This is found to be specifying the operating systems, explaining remote connections, internet
calling, wireless network security and then ends with IP address allocation.
