Report
AI Summary
This report provides a comprehensive analysis of network design and wireless networks. It begins with a detailed cost calculation for hardware, software, and operational expenses. The report then delves into a thorough site analysis, including an inventory of existing equipment, software, power services, and cabling. A needs assessment identifies required software, workstation specifications, server storage requirements, printing needs, and network load estimates. The design section includes a site diagram, cable access methods, and topology selection. The implementation section outlines the cost of network installation. Furthermore, the report addresses the installation of Wi-Fi access points, detailing equipment types, pricing, advantages, disadvantages, and optimal device locations. A sample network diagram and conclusions regarding network efficiency and security are also included. References to relevant sources support the analysis and recommendations.

backup, 30 workstations, power protection and internet connection. The following table is
created for listing the computer equipment and given below:
ID Name Department Location Users
1 Dell 7500 Computer Science LF11A B438,

2 Dell 9000 Physics PS100 P222
3. Samsung 22” Monitor Computer Science LF11A P221
4. Cannon MG3050 Printer Office RF10B A001
2. List of Existing Software
There are some software installed in the machines used in the different departments of the
campus and they are listed as follows:
Microsoft Word – word processor
Microsoft Excel – Spreadsheet
Tally – ERP
Adobe Reader – Pdf reader
Picasa – Photo viewer
3. Existing power service to area
The existing network have no backup power plan only ups are installed with each of
the PCs that provide backup for 30 minutes and it should be replaced with a single UPS of 5
ampere for serving power supply to all the network components for handling emergency
condition. The area covered for the network plan should be estimated and the network load
should also be calculated for implementation of the backup ups in different location of the
network.

4. List of any existing cable and pathways
The existing network have cat 5 cables installed and they are enclosed in the wiring of
the building of the campus. The cables can be used for connecting the switch with the pcs
installed in the network and reduce the cost of the network (Barry et al. 2015).
Need Assessment
1. Required software –
Some additional software should be installed in the PCs for increasing the efficiency
of the network and get the best output. The list of the required software are as follows:
Microsoft Word – word processor
Microsoft Excel – Spreadsheet
Tally – ERP
Adobe Reader – Pdf reader
Picasa – Photo viewer
Avast Internet Security - Antivirus
Corel Premium Collection – Graphics Suite
Microsoft Project – Scheduling software
2. Workstation Requirement
The workstation should be deployed in the network for management of the network
components and improve the productivity and management of the network. The number of
workstation required for the management of the different components of the network are as
follows:
Software Development – 2
Office Applications – 3
Interface designing – 2

The storage capacity of the server is estimated for the allocation of the storage in the network
and they are listed as follows:
Use of different applications – 3 Gb
Microsoft office – 30 Gb
Browsing – 500 Mb
Tally – 10 Gb
Adobe Reader – 900 Mb
Picasa – 200 Mb

Tally – 150 Mb
Avast Internet Security – 400 Mb
Corel Premium Collection – 400 Mb
4. Printing Requirements
Local printer should be installed in each of the department for reducing the printing
queue and handle more number of request at a time. The network printer installed in the
office is used for printing colour pages. The printers are configured to print letter size papers
and three workstations are allocated with a printer for the management of the printing service.

NETWORK DESIGN/WIRELESS NETWORKS
The server installed in the network is configured with a printing service and meet the current
requirement of the organization.
5. Network load Estimates
The load of the network is estimated after calculation of the data usage per application
and it is found that on an average 20 to 30 mb of data is used per hour.
6. Communication Options
DSL model is used for communicating in the network and the routers are configured with IP
route to communicate with different departments of the organization.
7. Estimated power requirement for server, workstations and printers
Two APC Back UPS RS are installed in different location of the campus area network for
serving power to the device installed in the network.

a. Proposed Server and Workstations
b. Estimated distance
For the building of length 20 meters and breadth 20 meters the network diagram is
created and the building have 4 rooms and a passage corridor the network cable are layed on
the walls of the building. 2 cat5 cables of 40 meter length, 2 cat 5 cables of 25 meter length, 1
cable of 35 meter length and a small patch cord for connecting the server with the hub. Some
extra cables are estimated for inclusion of the rise and fall in the network and increase the
efficiency of the cabling plan.

c. Indication of the unused cables at the locations
There are no extra unused cables in the network and it is essential for the creation of
an effective cabling plan (Oliviero and Woodward 2014). The location of the device is
maintained according to the network cabling plan and the existing cables are used for
reducing the network cabling cost.
d. Indication of the power location and power protection plan.
